A huge win for conservation. Hesaraghatta, one of the most precious grassland ecosystems, has officially been declared a Conservation Reserve by the state government. This 5010-acre expanse will now serve as a safe haven for many grassland species. Having been part of this movement for over a decade, this win feels personal – this is more than a cause, this is home. I’m thrilled to share that my friend Dr. Gowri Shankar has described four different king cobra species, with one now bearing a Kannada name. Seeing the king cobra of our region called Ophiophagus kaalinga is a beautiful blend of science and local heritage.
