Is there a tournament rule that forces players to stack their chips 20 high if requested by another player? I’ve never heard of this rule but at a recent tournament, a player to my direct left insisted. Just saw this clip from that stream and the commentators mention it only sometimes applies to final tables. What is the official ruling?

A weird hand came up last night, during Day 1C of the Milly Maker. #WSOP I get moved to a new table. My first hand, a player to my left that I didn’t recognize raises preflop. It folds around to me. I’m in the bb with QQ and chose to slowplay flatting HU. He covers me. Flop: 5-5-6 I checked. He bet 4K. I tried to raise but mistakenly put in the wrong color chip, putting in 7.5K. The dealer clarified that I had to put in a min raise to 8K so I put in 8K. He reraised to 29K. After thinking (admittedly probably too long), I went all-in. He called, showing 77. My QQ held. He busted later then decided to post on X, accusing me of angle shooting, also writing a lengthy Reddit post about it. Here’s a clip of the hand (again, sry for the long tank.) I told him I only play like 2 tourneys/year in the past. If I was better at tourneys, this hand wouldn’t have taken this long. Looking back, I think we both played this hand terribly. But the term angle shooting gets thrown around way too liberally these days.

This hand happened a few weeks ago. A player misremembered his hand, calling it off with 6 high against QQ from a Chinese recreational player, Dr.H, who was heavily criticized for not refunding part of the pot. I covered this hand on my Chinese channel and was not shocked when 98% of the comments by Chinese viewers strongly expressed they would NOT refund any money and couldn’t see why there is even a debate. As a Chinese American who grew up in the US, I don’t agree with many of their opinions but can understand their reasoning. I can also understand why the thought of a refund didn’t even cross Dr.H’s mind. This is a reflection of some of the differences in our culture and perception, not because Chinese people have no sympathy or morals. Whether it’s the “Euro” or the Asian guy who doesn’t speak English, we all grew up with different customs & beliefs. Everyone may have different interpretations of what’s fair or proper etiquette. Often there’s no ill intent. To keep growing the game & attracting more players internationally, I think it would help to try to be more understanding before jumping to quick conclusions about one’s character.
