So this interview lasted 2 hours so this “you’re scaring me” part might seem like an overreaction or fearmongering to someone without that context. There’s a lot of evidence to support my hypothesis that a potential H5N1 pandemic would be worse than COVID.

Went on CNN yesterday to talk about the hantavirus cruise &amp; why that isn’t what we should worry about. Andes virus is less a threat than the choice to voluntarily sit out a leading role in global health crises &amp; cripple our capacity. We are terribly vulnerable. Save America Movement

Also, hard to respond at all when there’s nobody to do any responding. Covid was awful, but govt programs like Operation Warp Speed saved lives. CDC did epi investigations. NIH invented the Moderna vaccine &amp; funded research. FDA authorized tests, vaccines, drugs. Not this time

I stopped by The Incubator to have a little chat with my PhD mentor MicrobeTV about H5N1 bird flu. I guess I’m all grown up as a virologist now that my teacher is asking me questions, but as Prof. Racaniello taught me, you should never stop learning ❤️🦠
