All 242 Air India passengers are feared dead. On screens, they are numbers. But behind each number are real human lives. This video by a young gay British couple on their last night in India shook me to the core. So many futures cut short today. So many stories left unwritten.

Just reached Jantar Mantar. 3 AM: barricades & metal detectors are being removed. Reports suggest plain clothes officers with lathis roaming in the crowd. Intent is to let antisocial elements infiltrate the protest. But they do not understand the power of a people's mocement.

248 crore flyover, only 750 metres long, costing Mumbaikars 33 lakh rupees per metre of taxpayer money. And when you park your bike on it, you have the unique opportunity to leave a mark that lasts forever! Sinking into freshly laid asphal, soft enough for a bike stand to go inside within days of inauguration. Congratulations, माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC 👏 I am sure you will release another unnamed “clarification” about this as well. Because you have clearly decided to take citizens on a ride!

On the last day of campaigning, Dr P Thiaga Rajan (PTR) broke down. It is sometimes difficult to see a grown man tear up during an election campaign. Such behaviour, after all, isn’t expected of politicians. We have reduced our profession into a cruel, heartless one. Yet, this rare moment of vulnerability was telling: over the last ten days, I have observed a man who leads not with his mind but his heart. Of course he has degrees from MIT, of course he’s been a brilliant Finance Minister, of course he’s one of the sharpest brains around - but what sets him apart is his deep kindness and commitment to a politics of care. What could be a better testament to that politics than the fact that there was not a single dry eye in the rally he addressed? As Tamil Nadu heads to the polls on the 23rd of April, I am certain that PTR will win from Madurai. What I more certain of, however, is that he will have won many hearts - not only in Madurai, but far far beyond.

The Supreme Court order on stray dogs in Delhi is nothing but a death sentence for every single stray on every single street in the national capital - and each one of us needs to raise our voice against it to #SaveDelhiDogs. Listen, I’m not some animal rights activist. I think every single stray dog needs to be vaccinated, sterilised, and released into safe surroundings. Those who bite humans should be rehabilitated or put into a shelter. But how on EARTH and WHY are you putting EVERY SINGLE STREET DOG in Delhi in a shelter? Pehle toh aapke paas shelter nahi hai, aur order implement ABHI honi hai. What is the government doing? Releasing them into the forest! Into the ridge! How the hell will they survive? What is worse, they have absurd rules - you cannot adopt any dog that has been put into a shelter. So what will a puppy who has been picked up from the street today do? Live the rest of his life in a sarkari prison? The Supreme Court is correct to worry about a rise in rabies cases. But the solution is not this ABSURD, IMPRACTICAL, and INHUMAN plan to throw all our street dogs into poorly managed, poorly built shelters in the middle of nowhere. GLOBAL examples have shown that there is only ONE solution to this problem: vaccinate, sterilise, and release. Why does the government not want to follow SUPREME COURT RULINGS directing the MCD to carry out sterilisation drives? With all due respect to the Supreme Court, today’s verdict is not based in legal precedent nor in common sense or scientific fact. Aur toh aur, it goes against laws put in place by Parliament because of leaders like Maneka Sanjay Gandhi ji. This is a classic case of judicial overreach by a judiciary that has forgotten that it cannot invent the law. Finally, baat rahi of long term solutions. Most strays were once pets bought from sasta breeders who don’t care about animals. What happens when the dog that Dimple Aunty bought for her son’s birthday is thrown onto the streets one year later? When he mates with another dog abandoned by another careless owner and has kids on the street? How many dogs will you keep transferring to these shelters - and for how long? Look at the condition of the gaushalas constructed by this government. Look at the failed policy of trying to send monkeys to shelters. Jo gay ko sambhal nahi paaye, jo Dilli mein bandaron ki samasya ka hal dhoondh nahi sake, woh kutton ki kya izzat karenge? MCD ki incompetence ki keemat hamare strays kyun bhare? Rekha Gupta ji, reconsider your decision. You still have time. We can work together to ensure Delhi’s streets are safe for dogs AND humans.

Sonam Wangchuk has been picked up from Jantar Mantar and forcefully taken to a hospital. This is not out of a concern for Sonam Wangchuk's health. This is to shut down a democratic protest. If this government cared about protesters, they would not have let GD Agarwal die. If this government cared about protesters, they would have opened up a dialogue with the hundreds of people still sitting at Jantar Mantar. Instead of protecting students, the government is protecting the Education Minister. We must all go to Jantar Mantar right now if we can. We must all join the Sansad Chalo march on 20th July.

A national call for protests has been given for today. There will be protests in more than 100 cities across India. The government cannot ignore the voices of young Indians. We are grateful to Sonam Wangchuk ji for fighting a brave fight. Now, we will take this movement forward until the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

“Kya paaya,” asks Supriya Sule tai at a hard-hitting press conference in Mumbai. When questions about LPG cylinders are raised, about the war in West Asia are raised - the government says, “stop wasting taxpayer money.” Wasn’t taxpayer money wasted by convening a hasty two-day session in the middle of state elections without any consensus? All this while, there is no Women’s Commission chief in Maharashtra. Vishakha Committees are not set up. Nothing done for women police officers except pink cars flagged off before elections - that are no longer on roads. These are the real questions to be asking the government. Women’s welfare should not, and cannot, be a PR stunt.

These are questions we should be asking in Parliament right now: - Why are Bengaluru restaurants warning they may shut due to shortages of commercial cooking gas? - Why has Pune closed gas crematoriums after restrictions on LPG use? - Why have watermelon prices crashed to ₹7/kg as produce meant for Ramzan markets in the Middle East floods the domestic market? - Why are industrial input costs in Maharashtra’s manufacturing and chemical hubs up 10–25%? The Iran war may feel distant, but economic shockwaves are already reaching India.

Kudos to Natasha Awhad for hitting the streets against the illegal destruction of mangroves! Contractors barricaded the Mumbra-Diva road to illegally dump concrete and waste to kill mangroves. Nationalist Congress Party - Sharadchandra Pawar workers joined residents to force gates open. This is REAL deshbhakti.
