Poverty is the biggest curse inflicted upon humanity. Samdish recently visited a remote government middle school in Jharkhand. Talking about the students, the teachers said that 70% of the students live alone because their parents are working in factories in Tamil Nadu. These students cook for themselves, take care of their cattle, and then go to school. Just to earn ₹20,000 a month, their parents have to leave their children at home and work in factories thousands of kilometres away. The teachers have to take care of these children whenever they are in need. If a child doesn't come to school for two consecutive days, the teachers visit their home to find out whether they are safe and well. And what is a teacher's salary? Even after having 20 years of experience, they earn just ₹20,000 a month, and even that salary is often delayed by the government. No matter how much noise we make about becoming a $5 trillion economy, the fact remains that millions of people are still struggling today to earn a mere ₹10,000–₹20,000 a month.

खाली वोट देने से नहीं होगा आज कल evm का भी खेला है, वोट चोरी का भी खेला है, वोट कहीं देते हैं चला जाता है कहीं और। तो मान के चलिए 15 हजार वोट का खेला करेगा हीं करेगा। इसलिए 50 हजार का मार्जिन बनाइये ताकि कितनों खेला करें ये जीतकर निकलने नहीं पाए। - प्रशांत किशोर

आजादी के बाद बिहार का प्रति व्यक्ति आय देश के प्रति व्यक्ति आय के मुक़ाबले 70% था। मतलब अगर देश के लोग 100 रुपया कमा रहे थे तब बिहार के लोग 70 रुपया कमा रहे थे। लालू जी के जंगलराज के समय यह आंकड़ा घट कर 42 हो गया। जब नीतीश कुमार आए तभी यह 30 था, उनके पहले कार्यकाल में यह बढ़ कर 35 हुआ। आज फिर यह आंकड़ा घट कर 30 पर आ गया है और बिहार के प्रबुद्ध लोग बताते नहीं थकते कि नीतिश कुमार के राज्य में कितना विकास हुआ है। - प्रशांत किशोर
