NANA PATEKAR THE GREATEST?💔💔A couple of hours ago, I received the heartbreaking news that my friend Nana Patekar, one of the finest actors and human beings in Indian cinema, is no more.🥹🥹🥹 I had just finished our performance and taken the curtain call. As I walked into the wings, my director Gajendra told me, “Nana is no more.”🥹 After that, I had to meet people, pose for photographs, smile, sit down for a meal… while trying to absorb what I had just heard. It was terribly difficult. But somewhere, I felt that Nana would have wanted me to finish my work. Fulfil my responsibility to the people who had come to see us. And then, perhaps, remember him. Actually, knowing him, I can almost hear him dismissing the very idea of a tribute: “अरे, तो क्या हो गया? मर गया तो कौन-सी बड़ी बात है? सभी मरते हैं!” That was Nana. Direct, unpretentious, with his own way of saying even the most difficult things.❤️🩹 I will miss you, my friend. Your warmth. Your hugs. Your extraordinary performances. And whenever I miss seeing you, I will watch your films. Though today, I wish I could simply hug you one more time. कभी-कभी बोलना बहुत ज़रूरी होता है। भले ही आपकी बात कुछ लोगों को पसंद न आए। दूसरों के बीच लोकप्रिय होने से ज़्यादा ज़रूरी है अपनी नज़रों में सही बने रहना। जब आपकी अंतरात्मा कहती है कि बोलना चाहिए, तो चुप रहना मुश्किल हो जाता है। और वही मैं कर रहा हूँ। पिछले कुछ दिनों से विदेश में रहते हुए मैं भारत में चल रहे विरोध-प्रदर्शनों को देख रहा हूँ। इनके पीछे की कहानी क्या है? इनका मकसद क्या है? इनमें कितना सत्य है और कितना षड्यंत्र? इन सवालों पर मैंने जो सोचा और महसूस किया है, वही इस वीडियो में आपके सामने रख रहा हूँ। मेरा मानना है कि अगर विरोध करने वालों के पक्ष में लोग अपनी बात रख रहे हैं, तो उन लोगों का बोलना भी उतना ही ज़रूरी है जो देश में अराजकता नहीं, शांति चाहते हैं। जो मानते हैं कि भारत तरक्की कर रहा है और हमारे प्रधानमंत्री बहुत अच्छा काम कर रहे हैं। मैं भी उन लोगों में हूँ जिन्हें प्रधानमंत्री के लिए इस्तेमाल किए गए अपशब्द चुभते हैं। वे हमारे देश के प्रधानमंत्री हैं, उम्र में बड़े हैं और मेरे विचार में देश का नेतृत्व अच्छी तरह कर रहे हैं। असहमति और आलोचना अपनी जगह हैं, लेकिन अपनी बात रखने के लिए अपशब्दों की ज़रूरत क्यों पड़े? शांति चाहने वालों की भी आवाज़ है। उनका भी अपना नज़रिया है। और उसे सामने रखना ज़रूरी है। यह वीडियो उसी भावना के साथ साझा कर रहा हूँ। यह मेरी सोच है, मेरी बात है और मेरी अंतरात्मा की आवाज़ है। जय हिन्द! 🇮🇳

यह वीडियो 25 सितंबर को अटलांटा में हमारे नाटक ‘जाने पहचाने अनजाने’ के शो से ठीक पहले रिकॉर्ड किया था। आज आपसे साझा कर रहा हूँ। कुछ दिन और बीत गए हैं, लेकिन इसमें कही हुई बात आज भी दिल में वैसी ही है। ❤️🇮🇳 अमेरिका और कनाडा के इस सफ़र में बहुत प्यार और सम्मान मिला है। हमारे नाटक के लिए तालियाँ, तारीफ़ें, सम्मान-पत्र, proclamations और commendations… एक कलाकार के तौर पर इतनी खुशी और प्रोत्साहन मिलना बहुत बड़ा सौभाग्य है।😎🎭🥹 और भारत के कितने लोगों से मिलने का मौका मिला, जो यहाँ कमाल का काम कर रहे हैं! उनकी मेहनत, उनकी उपलब्धियाँ और उनके संघर्ष की कहानियाँ सुनकर गर्व होता है। खासकर पहली पीढ़ी के उन भारतीयों को जब गले लगाता हूँ, जो भारत से आकर यहाँ बसे हैं, तो उनकी दिल की धड़कन में मुझे भारत सुनाई देता है।🇮🇳🇮🇳 मैं बहुत खुश हूँ। अपने काम से मिल रहे संतोष और आप सबके प्यार के लिए बहुत आभारी भी। मगर भारत को बहुत मिस करता हूँ। उसकी गर्मजोशी, उसके लोग, उसका अपनापन… और रोज़मर्रा की वे छोटी-छोटी चीज़ें, जिनकी अहमियत दूर आकर समझ में आती है। कभी-कभी तो उन चीज़ों की भी याद आती है, जिनकी वहाँ रहते हुए शिकायत करता हूँ! 😊 जानता हूँ, हम परफेक्ट देश नहीं हैं। लेकिन परफेक्शन वैसे भी बड़ी बोरिंग होती है! दुनिया के किसी भी कोने में चला जाऊँ, भारत जैसा एहसास कहीं नहीं मिलता।❤️🩹 यहाँ इतना प्यार मिल रहा है… और मन बार-बार अपने घर, अपने भारत लौट जाता है। जय हिंद! 🇮🇳

We approached it with such seriousness and innocence as if we were shooting the climax of the most important film of our lives. 😄 The funniest part? I couldn’t be with her on her birthday on the 15th, though I had called and wished her. So today became our little birthday celebration. During that four-hour journey, i was pleasantly happy to discover that our driver (or pilot as she calls herself) was Mamta Ben!
