“Yaadhum Oore, Yaavarum Kelir” Tamil Nadu is a land that has proudly promoted this timeless philosophy, recognizing every person, regardless of their origin, as our own kith and kin. It is therefore deeply saddening to see this ancient ethos shattered by the barbaric assault on Suraj, a migrant worker in Thiruthani, who was subjected to a terrifying ordeal by a ganja-intoxicated gang just for objecting to a knife being held to his neck for a social media reel. This disturbing incident reflects the grim reality of the facade called Dravida Model, where the open glorification of violence, easy access to narcotics, and persistent political propaganda against our brothers from North India have become normalized. The DMK government must be held accountable for allowing this climate of lawlessness and hate to take root in a state once known for its order and inclusivity.
