We can't fully understand the Bible without the Aramaic language. There are at least 12,000 instances of mistranslation that can only be reconciled through Aramaic. Three examples: 1. The Old Testament speaks of a "Jealous God". When taking the Aramaic, the accurate reading is a "Zealous God". 2. English translations recount Jesus on the cross pleading to The Father: "Why have you forsaken me?". But Jesus spoke in Aramaic, not Greek. What he said in his Aramaic tongue translates to: "For this was my destiny". 3. Paul in Corinthians said the Messiah HAS come, not that the Messiah WILL come. Because of an Aramaic mistranslation, the Greek (and thus English today) versions state that the Messiah *will* come. This has lead to "second coming" interpretations that disappear based on the original Aramaic framing. Aramaic was the spoken tongue of Jesus. The New Testament captures what he spoke aloud in Aramaic. We can't completely understand Christ without his language.

This story is horrifying. Sister Cecilia was a nun in Baghdad beheaded in 2002. “They made her suffer a lot.” Her love for Christ was so strong she refused to leave the Holy Eucharist unattended. Which was how the terrorists found her. Pray for Sister Cecilia. 🙏

Not many know the British interacted with Assyrians as far back as the 18th century. The Assyrians served in the Levies & formed an important military force during the Mandate of Mesopotamia & WWII. Sadly, the British betrayed their promises. Iraq could have been Christian.

“These are dark times, my son.” The hidden Christian Genocide the British let happen in 1933. A British general named R.S Stafford described its brutality: “A cold-blooded and methodical massacre of all the men in the village… as foul a crime as any in the bloodstained annals of the Middle East." Assyrians lost half their population to the Turks & Kurds between 1915-1924. They were split across four countries & betrayed by the British who they fought alongside during WW1. They naively trusted their Christian brothers. The newly formed Iraqi State, as it sought to mould its nationhood by blood, painted Assyrians as a Colonial Fifth Column. After an intense & lengthy propaganda campaign, an Iraqi general of Kurdish origin lead the genocide after the genocide. Assyrians in the Dohuk Region, already butchered by Ottomans & Kurds, were systematically targeted by Iraqi forces. The Simele massacre was far smaller in scale to Seyfo, but had a greater psychological impact. It fragmented church communities who began distancing themselves from the Assyrian cause, lest they fall to the sword. Patriarchs retreated into their communities & saw a unified Assyrian Christian cause as a liability - one that would get them killed. Stafford was an eyewitness to the events surrounding Simele & wrote a book titled “The Tragedy of The Assyrians”. He went to Alqosh on August 21 of 1933 & found Assyrians “utterly-panic stricken”. "In this unspeakable atmosphere there lived for six days, one thousand terrified women and children who had seen all their male relations killed before their eyes." Simele broke the spirit of the Assyrians, which was somehow still intact after losing half their population in the Ottoman Genocide. It sealed their fate into insular church communities who kept their heads down to survive. Just like the Iraq War in 2003 & ISIS in 2014, two catastrophes within 20 years. Two genocides in 20 years. 1915 to 1933. Iraq still does not recognize the massacre.

The Assyrian town of Alqosh is as ancient as the Old Testament. How can we lose this Biblical history? The Assyrians must survive in Iraq. The only answer is their own autonomous region in Nineveh. Without this, Aramaic disappears & historic Christian towns will become Muslim.

The oldest prayer from the Apostles that miraculously still exists… Three years after the crucifiction, St Thomas sent Thaddeus to Edessa. Thaddeus not only brought the word, he brought the oldest Anaphora. This was a Eucharistic Prayer *from Jerusalem* which was prayed by the *Apostles themselves*. This prayer was kept alive in the Assyro-Chaldean churches, which are slowly going extinct. A prayer from the time of Christ. Not a few centuries later. Saving ancient Christianity = saving the prayers & treasures of the Apostles.

1400 year old cross discovered in Abu Dhabi. The Church of The East, from its Mesopotamian core, spread as far as the Gulf, India & China. While many in Iraq & Syria are trying to erase this history, it’s beautiful to see this history rediscovered & protected in the Gulf.
