The Geran OWA-UAV was equipped with a special shaped-charge cutting warhead that focuses blast energy along a precise line to slice through metal structures, such as high-voltage pylons. The warhead is said to be made up of a 40kg main charge and four strike modules. The move indicates Russia's intentions of further escalating the attacks against Ukrainian power grid as the winter approaches.

One of the potential candidates is a munition from the American Extended-Range Attack Missile (ERAM) programme. In August 2025, U.S. State Department approved a potential Foreign Military Sale of up to 3,350 ERAM missiles to Ukraine. No actual photos of an intact ERAM munition has emerged as of yet. Another possibility is a US-made AGM-158 JASSM air-launched cruise missile. In August 2024, Reuters reported that the United States was close to supplying Kyiv with these munitions, although their delivery was never confirmed.
