WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE INCIDENT ON BOARD THE DUBAI-TEL AVIV FLIGHT Israel is treating the incident on the flydubai flight FZ 1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv as a "terror incident." According to Israeli officials, shortly after entering Jordanian airspace, the Omani co-pilot stabbed the Emirati pilot and attempted to take control of the plane by force. The pilots are not from Russia and Ukraine, as initially believed. During the altercation, the pilot transmitted a general emergency signal and then another emergency signal that indicated possible hijacking, as the aircraft was diverted towards Saudi Arabia and plunged 14,000 feet (approximately 4,200 meters) in a single minute, before landing at Tabuk Airport in northwestern Saudi Arabia. Israeli passengers and the flight crew who heard the altercation coming from the cockpit managed to subdue the co-pilot, whose intent remains unknown at this stage. It is unclear what the pilot was attempting—whether to hijack the plane to Israel, crash it into the ground, or carry out a 9/11-style attack. What is clear is that he wanted to hijack the plane and that a major disaster was averted, an Israeli official said. The 150 Israeli passengers are currently waiting to be shuttled to Israel, as flydubai says it has sent an alternative plane. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz cancelled a visit to southern Israel and are holding security discussions.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi tells Al-Mayadeen: If Israel attacks Beirut, the result will be the return to war. Either the war stops in both Iran and Lebanon, or it doesn't stop neither in Iran nor in Lebanon. Our armed forces are ready to launch devastating strikes against the occupied territories at any moment.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei says Tehran has no plan for another round of negotiations with the Americans, stating “if the U.S. sends a team to Islamabad, that is a matter that concerns them.” “The Islamic Republic of Iran does not accept any deadlines or ultimatums to safeguard its national interests. We have clearly stated our red lines from the beginning, and we will not change our principled positions,” Baqaei said. “In none of the stages of current or previous negotiations was the issue of transferring Iran's enriched uranium stockpiles to the U.S. or any other country raised, and fundamentally this option is not on the agenda of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Iran announces its readiness to establish “a regional security and military union with its dear neighbors,” without the presence of the U.S. or Israel. The Iranian Armed Forces Spokesman said in a statement in Arabic: “Dear Muslim brothers, we do not need a country that is thousands of kilometers away to ensure our region's security, nor do we need a country that views Islamic countries as cash cows. What good has America and its bases in the region brought you?” The spokesman added: “We must learn from the mistakes of the past and the lack of supportive force which caused the Arabs' defeat in the 1967 and 1973 wars. We must unite to ensure our security and establish a comprehensive defense union.”

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian: The enemy is attacking our infrastructure and putting us under siege so that people become dissatisfied. We currently do not need the people's sacrifice, but we request that people reduce electricity and energy consumption. For example, at home instead of having 10 lights on, let 2 lights be on. What is wrong with that?

The heroic Indian pilot, Captain Smith Machchhar, spoke on the phone with PM Narendra Modi and recounted how despite being stabbed and severely injured, he managed to open the cockpit door from the inside and shout for help. Machchhar described the moments of the attack in the cockpit. "At that moment, I was fighting for my life. It was a moment when I realized that if I didn't act... because I was already injured, I had many wounds... I had to do something." Machchhar continued and described the critical moments: "I said to myself at that moment: If I don't get up... while I was lying on the floor, I could feel the plane diving... the door was right there. Despite taking blows, I managed to open it." Machchhar emphasized that he did not act alone in preventing the disaster. "Everyone took an equal part in it. What I did was to save my life, but at the same time, I knew I couldn't let everyone else die." Machchhar added that he is confident in his full recovery. "I don't look at these injuries just as injuries, because that would make my rehabilitation harder. I see it as a journey that progresses slowly, step by step, and will take time. But I am confident that it will lead to my full recovery, and I will soon achieve full health."

Mohsen Rezaei, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, to Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV: “Beirut and its southern suburbs are our red line, and no one has the right to move against them. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi: The winner of this war is the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has emerged stronger from this war. A Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. has yet to be signed, changes are still possible. The agreement consists of two stages. The nuclear issue was not discussed in the first stage and we deferred it to the second stage. If the provisions of the MoU are not met, the final agreement will not be signed. The first thing mentioned in the agreement is that the US naval blockade be lifted. We will never leave Hezbollah in Lebanon alone, and the end of the war in Lebanon will include all fronts. The Strait of Hormuz is under the sovereignty of Iran and Oman. The future of the Strait of Hormuz will not be like the past, and our sword will always hang over the Strait. Iran and Oman will soon issue a joint statement on the management of the Strait of Hormuz. According to international law, it is not possible to collect tolls from the Strait of Hormuz, but service fees will be collected. Paying compensation to Iran is in plan.

The announcement of the Saudi invitation came hours after Emirati VP Mansour bin Zayed met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Abu Dhabi. I wouldn’t be surprised if Fidan’s high profile meeting with bin Zayed was to relay the invitation on behalf of the Saudis.
