Last year I was in Aruba sitting at a bar watching the Kentucky Derby. I bet Sovereignty because of this man. Everyone at the bar was like YOU KNOW HORSE RACING?! He mailed postcards as a little kid to get these signatures back. 40 years later — 1,000+ signatures. 60 Hall of Famers. Personal photos with DiMaggio, Mantle, and Mays. A signed Ted Williams bat he believed was the only one of its kind in the world. I knew one day he and the basement would be gone so 6 years ago I made him give a tour of it all. It's crazy to think how I just picked up & left for North Carolina without knowing anyone and became a sports anchor. It's crazy to think I left NC, moved home with no job and fell into sports betting right as it was getting legalized. It's crazy to think sports betting led me to my dream job on network television. It's crazy to think THAT dream job didn't even turn out to be my dream. I have this new dream of building something great. It's the biggest leap I've taken, but I know it'll lead me to the best destination yet.
