SRIKANDI 1292 is a reimagining of the iconic Srikandi from the Javanese adaptation of The Mahabharata. Srikandi famously turned the tide of the Kuruksetra battle by defeating Bisma (the man who can determine his own death) with help from Arjuna. this is the first part of the whole series that i'm going to do. as a person who likes “just making pretty pictures”, i see a similar thing happening alot in concept art where most of us are just regurgitating what’s already been done and proven successful and not really pushing the envelope when it comes to storytelling or artistic identity. i’m definitely guilty of it, because sometimes you just wanna make pretty images and call it a day and THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. you like what you like and you deserve respect for your work. but i hope in the future more artists are gonna do their own thing, be bold and honest. that’s what i wanna at least try to do in the future.
