Please let The Lord of the Rings: War in the North’s modern re-release finally open the floodgates. There are so many forgotten licensed games I’d love to see get another shot, so I’m starting a little series about the ones I keep coming back to in my head. The first one that refuses to leave me alone is Peter Jackson’s King Kong from 2005. That constant switch between feeling unstoppable as Kong and suddenly fragile and hunted as Jack… the oppressive jungle, the desperate survival, those moments where making noise felt like a genuinely bad idea. It still feels special in a way few movie games ever managed. Which forgotten licensed game would you bring back to modern hardware?

China just keeps COOKING with these games. HoYoverse just revealed Nodus Fall, a new co-op action game where you play as a Weaver in a world where divine authority has crumbled, teaming up to take down mythic beings. No release date or platforms yet. I’m definitely interested.

Man, Crimson Desert looks like the kind of game that would make me disappear for a solid 2–3 weeks. I wish I had the free time, because this is exactly the kind of world I want to explore without rushing anything. They’ve shown multiple pieces of footage, and the world looks consistently rich and ambitious. Hard to say how it will run in reality, but what we’ve seen so far is absolutely impressive. The only downside for me is the confirmed lack of romance options, because I would have loved to see that included. Even so, RPG fans are eating well this year with Crimson Desert, Fable, The Blood of Dawnwalker, and hopefully a new Witcher 3 DLC too, fingers crossed 😂

Tried a bit of Jak and Daxter on OpenGOAL today and it’s honestly impressive how clean it looks. The game feels sharper and smoother than I’ve ever seen it. For anyone who doesn’t know: OpenGOAL is a fan‑made project that rebuilds the original Jak and Daxter in a modern, open‑source engine so it can run natively on PC with higher resolutions and better performance. Enhancements for the first two games are already finished, and work on the third is still in development. You can even add mods and HD texture packs, since OpenGOAL supports custom assets and community-made visual upgrades. You just need a copy of the game and you’re good to go. I used UltraISO to convert my physical PS2 disc into a digital copy and it worked perfectly. 💯

I saw that Replaced is releasing tomorrow, so I tried the demo today. Not gonna lie, it completely sold me. Since it’s dropping on Game Pass and I already have a sub, I’m definitely diving into it tomorrow. The demo shows off the atmosphere, the lighting, and that smooth 2.5D Arkham‑like combat right away. It feels surprisingly polished, so I’m excited to see how the full game delivers.
