Modern games would just slap another icon on the HUD. King Kong (2005) did it better. Press a button and Jack literally tells you how much ammo he has left. No counter. No clutter. Just immersion. We need more design like this.

Please let The Lord of the Rings: War in the North’s modern re-release finally open the floodgates. There are so many forgotten licensed games I’d love to see get another shot, so I’m starting a little series about the ones I keep coming back to in my head. The first one that refuses to leave me alone is Peter Jackson’s King Kong from 2005. That constant switch between feeling unstoppable as Kong and suddenly fragile and hunted as Jack… the oppressive jungle, the desperate survival, those moments where making noise felt like a genuinely bad idea. It still feels special in a way few movie games ever managed. Which forgotten licensed game would you bring back to modern hardware?
