This afternoon, I completed a three-day condolence visit to Daura, Katsina State, where I joined many other sympathisers for the third-day prayers in honour of the late President Muhammadu Buhari. Before participating in the larger congregational prayers, I, along with former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, offered special prayers at the graveside of the deceased. Before leaving Daura, I visited Aisha Buhari, the widowed former First Lady, to express my condolences. Once again, may Almighty Allah forgive his sins and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. -AA

I joined other prospective voters of the African Democratic Congress in our party's presidential primaries in casting my vote at the Ajiya Ward Polling Unit in Jimeta Yola, Adamawa State. This is democracy at work. The election taking place simultaneously in 8,809 Wards in Nigeria is a major step in our quest to recover our beloved country and set it on the path of prosperity. -AA

On the occasion of my beloved wife, Titi's 75th birthday anniversary celebrations, I am proud to say that I couldn't have married a better wife. Titi and I got married against our parents' wishes in the most daring way, with no family members, with only two friends. Today, we have been married for more than 50 years. Titi has been a blessing beyond measure to me and our family. I don't know how we started calling ourselves Mummy and Daddy. I thank her for being patient with my shortcomings. Patience is a virtue you can never regret. I encourage spouses to continue to be patient with each other. I wish Titi many more years of bliss and blessings. -AA

This morning, I joined other patriotic leaders of the ADC, African Democratic Congress, led by our indefatigable National Chairman, Sen. David Mark, who sacrificed the comfort of his special day to participate in a peaceful protest against the partisanship of INEC Nigeria and the tyranny of the Tinubu-led APC administration. I believe they received the message that this effort to undermine our democracy will not succeed. It will be resisted and challenged to the best of our abilities. I also hope that the international community is paying attention to the threat to Nigeria, its democracy, and the opposition. Nigeria shall be reclaimed. Nigeria shall be rebuilt. Nigeria shall Arise and Shine through our collective and united efforts. -AA

Earlier today, I led a delegation of friends and political associates to the ancient city of Ibadan on a congratulatory visit to Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa I, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. My delegation included the former PDP National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, former Cross River State Governor, Mr Liyel Imoke, former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Mallam Adamu Maina Waziri, one-time Minister of Police Affairs and Mallam Kashim Imam. I was elated that the Olubadan called every member of the delegation by their names, remembering our time together in the public service. Indeed, His Royal Highness and all of us had shared decades of time of service to our dear nation. I am proud that Kabiyesi, a longstanding associate, has ascended the throne of his forebears. I regret my inability to be physically present for the historic coronation due to protocol logistics. Please overlook and forgive me. Mo dobale, Kabiyesi. It is my prayer that you will enjoy a long reign in good health and vitality that will usher in more growth, prosperity, and peaceful Ibadanland I trust the assurance of Oba Ladoja to serve justice to his people across all religious or political divides. Two of my children officially got married at the National Mosque, Abuja, this afternoon. It gave me immense pleasure. By the hands of my close associates and friend, General Aliyu Gusau, my daughter Hafsat was given in marriage to her spouse, Umar Farouk Imam. My son Abubakar Atiku Jnr took his bride, Asma'u Abdul'aziz Nyako, through my friend Alhaji Kwairanga Jada. I have no doubt that these marriages will further strengthen the longstanding family ties established with my older brother, Admiral Murtala Nyako, and my friend, Kashim Ibrahim Imam. I am thankful to all guests who graced the occasion and supported to make this day a reality. I congratulate my children and their spouses and wish them a happy marriage. -AA

Shortly after, I also joined a host of friends, well-wishers, and family of Alhaji Jibrin Jotinga at the wedding Fatiha of his daughter Juwairiya and her spouse, Ahmed Umar Saleh, at the same mosque. I congratulate the couple and wish them Allah's blessings as they embark on a lifetime journey to build a happy family. -AA

We rejected the 2026 Electoral Act hastily signed into law by the Bola Tinubu-led APC administration. The rejection was followed by a call to reenact the law in line with the wishes and aspirations of Nigerians. I totally agree with Dr Ajuji Ahmed, the National Chairman of the New Nigerian People's Party(NNPP) who clearly articulated our rejection of the amended 2026 Electoral Act, especially section 60(3) which encourages INEC to also adopt manual instead of mandatory real-time electronic transmission of results to the IREV portal, under claims of network failure in a country with more than 90% Internet coverage. We also jointly rejected section 84(2) that imposes Direct or Consensus mode of primary election on political parties. I also agree with Dr Ajuji, that the amended Electoral Act 2026 is offensive, anti-democratic and a deliberate attempt by the APC-led National Assembly to undermine transparency and sanctity of our elections. I used the occasion to call on all opposition political parties to join in this mission to rescue our Democracy. Now is the time to push back on the rigging plan ahead of 2027. -AA

This morning, I gladly joined the campaign trail of Dr Moses Paul (Dr Mo), Dr Mo (Moses Paul), the ADC AMAC Chairmanship Candidate in the February 21 FCT Local Council elections. Our first port of call was Apo Wasa. Dr Mo is the kind of Nigerian that young people in Abuja can relate to and trust with the future of the Municipal Council. I encourage FCT voters, including those in AMAC, to vote for all ADC candidates in these elections. This would be the first step towards ousting the failed APC government. ADC is undoubtedly the party that will salvage Nigeria, and the surest bet is to start with Dr Mo and AMAC. -AA
