#OTD 2014 - Oscar Taveras made his MLB debut with the Cardinals at Busch Stadium against the Giants. With rain falling, Taveras' first MLB hit was a solo home run in the 5th inning to plate the 1st run in a 2-0 Cardinals win. What could have been... #STLCards

I had to do some deep file diving, but after all these years, I finally found the video! Thanks to Bevo57 for sparking this search. This video is a true treasure, with Lou talking about breaking the all time stolen bases record just a few days before this interview. I hope you all enjoy it. Lou was such a kind and personable man, and this video shows it. #STLCards

#OTD 2007 - The Cardinals signed free agent Rick Ankiel. (Rick Ankiel) He was granted free agency just a month prior by the team. In 2005, after years of frustration and minor league struggles due to the "yips", Ankiel made a life-changing choice when he announced he was giving up pitching to become an outfielder. The Cardinals fully supported him, and he began the long and difficult climb back through the minors. He missed the entire 2006 season due to injury but exploded in 2007 at Triple-A Memphis, smashing 32 home runs and driving in 89 runs. On August 9, 2007, he was called up and made his debut as a position player - hitting a three-run homer in his first game back in a 5-0 Cardinals win over the Padres at Busch Stadium. 🎙️ Dan McLaughlin and Al Hrabosky

#OTD 1952 - Jerome Lester Horwitz died at the age of 48 in San Gabriel, California. Under the stage name of Curly Howard, he would become one of the most beloved comedians of his era - or any era! Let's all do a "nyuk-nyuk-nyuk!" and "woo-woo-woo!" to honor the legend!

#OTD 2011 - Before a frenzied standing-room only crowd at Busch Stadium, the Cardinals win their 11th World Series Championship. The Rangers scored twice in the first inning and fans were worried that the game 6 heroics didn't carry over. But "that man" was still lurking - David Freese tied the game at 2 with a two-run double in the bottom of the first and Allen Craig's third inning one-run homer put the Cardinals ahead for good. Chris Carpenter settled down to pitch 6 strong innings. Arthur Rhodes, Octavio Dotel and Lance Lynn followed Carp on the mound to keep the Rangers off the scoreboard. Jason Motte then gets the Rangers 1-2-3 in the ninth inning to close it out. ⚾️ Final score, 6-2 🏆 David Freese was named the MVP 🎙️ "What a team! What a ride! The Cardinals are World Champs in 2011!" - Joe Buck #STLCards | Joe Buck
