Sir Sir Mo Farah congratulates a fellow Somali runner, Abdullahi Jama Mohamed, who made history at the African Games Ghana, clinching a silver medal in the competitive men's 500m final. This win marks Somalia's first medal on the global stage in over 35 years. In the same vein, Farah pays homage to Somali greats in athletics in the past, Abdi Bile Abdi, Abdi Nageye and Bashir among them.

In another high-level civic encounter I had with ThePulseSomalia, I explained why I believe the notion of secession does not sit well with the current precarious global realities. "The Somali youth brainwashed into secession and other absurdities must read how the world has moved beyond the days when an article at the UN guaranteed our ownership of #Somalia and the relative well-being of our people. In this lawless "Oreshnik era," where the weaker fiefdoms will either be occupied or gulped up altogether with little notice, Somalia can only have a chance at surviving when the roughly 20 million in the republic are in harmony militarily, diplomatically, and in terms of security..."
