📍Did the title make them think it was horror? Interviewer: We said the screenplay is difficult to unravel. There’s something I always wonder about. You receive the script. Its title is The Djinns’ Wedding. Did you immediately think it might be a horror film?” Demet: “Actually my brain really tried to push me in that direction. But I strongly resisted that thought when I opened the first page.” Even when we were filming in Erzincan, cars would stop on the road and people would naturally ask, ‘Is it a horror film?’ So it really does create that impression. But of course, after reading it, and after understanding why it was called that, I understood much better how heavy and meaningful the title actually is.” Interviewer: For a moment you thought it might be horror. As far as I know, you like watching horror films.” Demet: How do you know? 🤣 Interviewer: I know. Interviewer: Let’s clarify it here: The Djinns’ Wedding is not a horror film. Demet “ she wanted to clarify that with a cheerful expression” Interviewer: But it is true that it has an unsettling atmosphere. Demet “Don’t trust us too much either” 🤣 📍 Going to Erzincan Interviewer: Then you went onto the set. Tell us a little about that. I assume you expected it to be less comfortable.” Kaan : “We didn’t go to Africa, by the way.” 🤣 Interviewer: I just meant a set outside Istanbul.” Demet: “Mainstream productions aren’t exactly easy either, by the way. I don’t know what people imagine. I actually felt more comfortable there. There’s no traffic. You’re very close to nature. When you’re doing a job while still living in your own home, there can be so many things that distract your attention and your mind. There are plans, friends and family. You can spend much more energy on those things, and it can be more difficult to say no. But when you genuinely say, ‘I’m going there to do my job and make a film,’ I think Erzincan was an amazing place for us. Because I could focus completely on my discipline.” Interviewer: So it can actually be an advantage. Being inside that atmosphere might even help you bring out the role better.” Demet: “For my concentration, it was an enormous advantage. And I also think we went during a good season. Ferit Hoca, thank you very much for that, by the way. Of course, by the time I arrived, things were a little better. I’ll put it that way. Because we didn’t all start on the first day together and finish together. When I arrived, the others had already started, if I remember correctly. How is Esrefrüya going for you? It’s going great. Really. I know it sounds like a cliché, but it truly feels like a dream to me. The project, in every sense the team, the set, the script has really turned out perfectly. It’s a very good production company. And the audience feedback has completely met our expectations. We’re very happy, too. My mother watches, first of all, she loves Turkish soap operas, so she watches every Turkish operas. Why them specifically? I don't know. She just she graduated from Hallmark into Turkish, and then she's evolved even further. She just watches a screen where there's two people Al images and it's just a person telling a story ( it’s not about ER, another subject) Turkish ? Yeah. I remember the first time I came down, I was like, "Oh no, what happened?" Because I'm just hearing I'm like, "What happened?" And I walk in and I'm like, "Mom, what are you watching ?” she just reads the subtitles. She did it for like? !! It's called um if you look up uh he's like, what's it called? Circle., is it dove bird? bird something. How could I forget it? Early bird. Oh, baby Early bird explain this ? So, it's a soap. It's a soap opera. There's like 360 episodes. She's watched them all like five, four times. Is it speaking in Turkish ? Yeah that’s it that’s him .. so she reads the subtitles ? that's was the middle stage. Now she's graduated to it's different now where she just watches two Al images and it's a story. But she did this for a good like eight years all through Covid But why was she into this? I don't know she he must have come across it one day on somewhere and then that was it. She just got hooked. Oh, I mean hooked isn't even the word By the way, it's pretty good. Is it? Yeah. I’m fine, honestly. It was just a one-and-a-half-day vacation for me, so I’m extremely tired. There was also a lot of snow where I went. We got quite cold as well. Demet Özdemir’s interview with Kanal D at the ELLE Style Awards. “Demet Özdemir has embraced the shoulder-pad trend and has become a pioneer for strong, confident women with an upright posture” D: Shoulder pads? Yes, I really love them these days. I even have them in my T-shirts if they don’t have any, I actually like getting them sewn in. So was it a special choice !! Not really, it just happened to work out that way. “Eşref Tek and Nisan of Eşref Rüya have captured Turkey’s heart.” D: I can say this clearly: No success ever happens alone. I mean, it really is a very long journey. What we call “mainstream” isn’t simple and can’t be reduced to something simple. There are schedules, releasing a new episode every week, weather conditions, and so many other factors. But when you really work with the right team, you not only feel stronger yourself, but success truly becomes inevitable. That’s why I’m so happy to be working with such a team, with such a production company. “Let’s hear it from her herself Nisan, who refreshes our ears with her songs and captivates everyone with her attitude and charisma” D: Honestly, at first, it didn’t feel comfortable for me. Because she was singing, of course there were all the traumatic challenges in the story and many other factors. But when I asked myself, “Can I do this? Am I capable?” it just flowed naturally, like a stream. Once I jumped in, it became much easier to understand Nisan and also much easier for me to bring her to life.” “No one expected such incredible songs from her. Demet Özdemir has once again proven she’s talented in every way” D: It just happened it really did and at least I told myself that if something like this came my way, I should try to do it in the best possible way. People loved it, and I’m very happy. I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it this much. And speaking for myself, not being overly ambitious actually made me feel more comfortable, especially because it was a field I had never been involved in before I won’t lie. “Unlike his competitors who constantly announce they’re at the top, Demet is incredibly humble. You were saying that the scene was supposed to happen after she was shot. This interview was given after that episode, of Nisan being shot and she was happy and excited because she thought she would get to perform a new song in the coming weeks after Nisan’s recovery. But my poor girl was shocked by HIS request to change the scenario. It’s really a joke to believe she refused to do a song. Don’t make up your own version of events just to blame her 😅

How did you become part of the project? Let’s start with that. Actually, it happened thanks to a bit of resemblance. I remember there was Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir about 2–3 years ago, though I’m not completely sure. You know it, right? Back then, they were also looking for someone to play the younger version of Demet Özdemir, but I was considered too old for the role. A lot of people said we looked alike. This time everything matched perfectly, and I was really happy about it. So for me, it happened a bit thanks to our resemblance Presenter: You really do look alike. So, how did you feel? What happened during your first meeting with Demet Özdemir ?! She actually came up to me herself. I already really wanted to meet her. When we visited the set before, we never ran into her. We kept meeting Çağatay brother instead, and we would chat with him. But we hadn’t really met Demet sister much before. Then, when we finally had a scene together, she came over and introduced herself. I was so excited. She even joked, ‘You’re playing my younger self you’re so beautiful, but that has nothing to do with being you resemble my childhood character” We laughed about it together. I love being open and honest, and I’m not going to filter myself on this. At first, I couldn’t believe it, but then I thought about it the success and global reach of Turkish TV series, and the number of them, is something already widely recognized. So I just switched to enjoying the moment. I think it’s especially beautiful and sweet that his mother is watching. Of course, the show is very well-loved, and it’s not just about something I did personally. “She may speak modestly, but while aiming high, Özdemir’s confidence is undeniable” D: So clearly, it’s not impossible to reach the world. But to me, true friendship… really sees every stage of your life, every emotion. Friends may come and go, but what remains is something much more miraculous that’s what friendship means to me. It’s indispensable. You’re there for each other no matter what. Honestly, I don’t like it when people use the word lightly. Sure, there might be some truth to it, but I just don’t want to believe it. What was the best career advice you ever received? “When we were filming the first episodes of the series, we had a few scenes when Nisan took me out of Cevahir's house and the police caught me. At that moment, Demet must have noticed some of my concerns and she had a very sweet conversation with me in the taxi.
