He went to Europe and continued on with his activism but became depressed given nothing was happening for the Syrians. Regime exploited his condition into blackmailing him to return back to Syria; He wasn’t heard about ever since. Now his body has been found in Sednaya Prison.

Five years ago to the day, the prominent HTS military commander Abu ‘Ubaydah Kansafrah was martyred while defending his village of Kansafrah, in the Jabal al-Zawiyah region (southern Idlib), against Assad’s troops, backed by Russia and Iran. As regime forces advanced toward Idlib, Abu ‘Ubaydah sent a final audio message, vowing that he would not leave Jabal al-Zawiyah unless victorious or killed and buried in the grave he had previously dug with his only remaining hand.
