Driving around #Mogadishu these days is gut-wrenching. The scale of forced evictions and displacement by the government is unprecedented. Never has this city experienced this level of wholesale land grabbing by the very people who were supposed to protect it. There has to be accountability to this madness. #Somalia

Today, former PM Mohamed Hussein Roble and I, together with other colleagues, have been blocked by security forces to go to the site of the planned peaceful demonstrations. This cowardly act has only strengthened our resolve to stop the industrial scale land grabbing and mass displacement of the poorest residents of #Mogadishu by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s administration. We will continue to protest until the mandate of his kleptocratic regime ends on 15 May. #Somalia
