Hey y’all, my name is Eric! I’m 47 y/o, 370lbs. I’ve been lifting for 40 days now. Currently running the Starting Strength NLP. Today I deadlifted 245lbs. I’ve been working hard on my form. Making sure to “catch water” with my back instead of rounding. My grip is getting better each workout. Being severely obese has its limitations but I’m not using that as an excuse, gotta get better! 😤💪🏻🔥

Last Friday I made a ten lb jump on my deadlift and I wasn’t ready. Coach had me go back to 245 Monday and this morning the weight moved so much better. In fact I feel like this was my best set on Deadlift since starting. I lost count of my reps and got six in my 1x5 set.😤🔥💪🏻

I always workout alone, just me and my music. Last night I was getting my bench press in. So after the first set at 187.5lbs I almost failed the last rep. Some folks were leaving the gym, when I re-racked the bar I looked over and they gave me props for the set. I know it’s not a big weight but a stranger giving me congrats felt really good! It helped on the 2nd set but the last set did me in lol. I only got three reps in. I’m getting stronger but bench is still my weaker lift. Gotta keep on keeping on! 😤💪🏻🔥

Had a first happen last night on the bench press, the last rep of the last set failed as I went up. I was trying to get it back in the hooks and my left arm said “Nah, I’m done lol.” I’ve never had to bail out of a lift and it was embarrassing having the plates hit the floor!

In October I started back in the gym. It had been over a year since I had lifted any weights. I started the Starting Strength NLP and I’m 11 workouts in. Today, I weighed in at 369lbs, my squat was 150lbs, bench 115lbs (press 85lbs on Sunday) and deadlift 190lbs. This go round I’ve focused more on working the right way. Last time I was rushing to get sets done and injured myself way too many times and quit. I’m excited to see what my numbers will look like at the end of the year. When softball season gets here, I want to feel like a new man! 😤🔥💪🏻

Friday’s deadlift 1x5 @ 265lbs breakdown: 1st rep, good form. 2nd rep, back wasn’t set. 3rd rep, 4th rep same. 5th rep, broke my grip and same. Proud that I got four reps without breaking my grip. I know I’ve got to work on resetting my form. Back at it in the AM. 😤💪🏻🔥
