“There’s free speech and then there’s hate speech”. Wow, never heard that one before. If it wasn’t already, it should be clear to everyone by one that the Trump administration doesn’t give a shit about free speech; indeed, on Israel-Gaza, they’ve been cracking down on free speech on an unprecedented scale. This is why its faux outrage (Vance’s little speech) at censorship in Europe and elsewhere — though the latter is a very real problem — is clearly not based on a principled stance but is simply a tool through which to advance certain strategic goals that have a nothing whatsoever to do with free speech, as I explained in a recent interview about our report on the French censorship-industrial complex.
