A bit of cricket & a lot of colour. Broadcaster, Writer, Author & a lot of words even otherwise

Shorts

It’s raining and it’s raining heavily. Players not here. Umpires not here. The kind of morning where there’s no point coming to the ground unless you’re a brave broadcaster. No chance of play for at least the next 3-4 hours in Gqeberha

This from Temba Bavuma is up there with Ajinkya Rahane’s Test ton at the MCG in 2020 when it comes to inspirational captain’s knocks & it all comes down to the relentless work he’s put in between Tests. Must have spent 6-7 hours in all in the nets across practice sessions

A massive fan of the incredible turnout for Day 1 at Adelaide Oval but not a fan of this incredible level of littering on the historic hill, super hot day or not

At least 30 minutes after England had won their first Test in Australia for 15 years, the England's Barmy Army 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🎺 were still going strong & stayed strong for so much longer. Have met so many over the last few days in Melbourne so desperate to see an #Ashes win

Steve Smith practicing his Harry Brooks this morning in the nets. Generally a sign that he thinks this pitch can’t be trusted & that ultra aggressive batting is the way to go #Ashes

Always my favourite part of nets sessions at club grounds. Elite cricketers taking time out to have a chat with the local net bowlers. Mitch Starc must have spent nearly 20 minutes with this young left-armer here at Windward Cricket Club in Barbados #WIvAus

Michael Neser spent the eve of the 10th straight #Ashes Test in England that he’s likely to not play, wanging balls at teammates & being the guy that the Aussies all love like Pat Cummins said they do when I asked him about our man on behalf of all you #NeserMustPlay campaigners

It might have got a face lift, but there’s nothing quite like Test cricket at the WACA. Can’t wait for Friday afternoon & to see it all lit up with Healy Hill buzzing under the iconic scoreboard to see off one of Australian cricket’s true greats

By far the sporting prediction I’m proudest of. This was on October 14 last year after South Australia Cricket Teams’ opening #SheffieldShield match of the season which they drew against NSW. “Mark my words, South Australia will make the Shield final”. Wow & here they are. So proud SEN SA 1629

What an amazing turnout here in Rundle Mall, on a Monday afternoon that too, to celebrate the heroes of South Australia’s #SheffieldShield win at a reception hosted by the Premier Peter Malinauskas. Reminder of much South Australia Cricket Teams’ long-awaited success means to this city & state

Sorry but it’s just important to have these uncomfortable conversations. So that we all can grow, learn & evolve. And I’m so glad I had two very dear friends for company on 7Cricket to do so

In #Bazball world, net sessions are a little different at times. Baz asks, “How many more Mo?” Mo says, “2 more.” Baz goes, “2 sixes?”. Moeen Ali nods & duly hits the last two balls he faces for “sixes” much to his coach Brendon McCullum’s delight #Ashes

Surreal experience being in the centre of a packed Adelaide Oval to toss the coin & also felt it was my best chance to carry a mouth guard to tuck into my sock before letting it spin like a footy star before kicking for goal #AFLCrowsGiants Adelaide Crows

By 21 I’d nearly died twice of overdose. Cricket kept me alive. All I wanted was a second innings. I got lucky. I smile always because every day since is a bonus. This is my story. Only Mark Howard could have made it so easy for me tell it #TheHowieGames
