FOUR THINGS PETER OBI WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY .. Because he represents business unusual “For those people that call themselves Obi-dients, apart from curses and insults, do you have any clear idea about what Peter Obi would have done differently had he been elected? Because Obi himself has not advanced a single plan!” ~ D. H Bwala a. Cost of Governance – Peter Obi would have reduced the cost of governance Peter Obi wouldn’t go to a climate conference with 1400 delegates for a jamboree at a pricey 1.09 billion naira. PO ain't buying no Prado jeeps for anyone. PO will not go to France to be treated by Nigerian medical specialists. He will build international standard public facilities in the homeland and reimport those same specialists. Peter Obi won't submit a criminally-bloated budget to the national assembly padded with pork barrels. (Forgive the pun.) b. Reform of our upstream and downstream – Peter would have reformed the petroleum industry Peter Obi won't hold on to the petroleum ministry, like Buhari and Tinubu, because he has no criminal intent. (Tinubu returned from Riyadh after a failed attempt to hawk our petroleum industry to MbS. He returned without learning anything from the way they manage Aramco.) Peter Obi would exact full accounting from Chevron ExxonMobil Royal Dutch Shell, and Arthur Eze. He would demand accurate figures for the crude oil and gas extracted. Because he knows that corruption in our crude oil and petrol sector is the foundational basis for Nigeria’s culture of criminality and impunity. c. Probe of Emefiele’s tenure at CBN and Regulation of the Banking Sector – Peter would have instituted Banking Reforms If our petroleum industry is the foundational bedrock for Nigeria’s culture of criminality, CBN and the super banks have turned out to be the enablers of the corrupt enterprise of those who have captured the Nigerian state. For their modus operandi ask Bode George. Jim Obazee had a sneak peek into the mind-bending orgy of corruption at CBN. But the Senator Tinubu had not followed it with a White Paper. Peter Obi would have launched a proper judicial probe into the CBN because that is the singular way the long overdue forex racketeering going on in the banking sector can be dismantled. d. UP NEPA – Peter would not have hiked the tariff on power “The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, says Nigeria cannot continue to subsidize electricity, adding that the nation must begin to move towards a cost-effective tariff model, as the country is currently indebted to the tune of 1.3 trillion naira to generating companies (GenCos) and 1.3 billion dollars owed gas companies!” – Instablog9ja In a normal country, a statement like that can only come from the very pits of hell and wouldn’t stand. But we know what Tinubu sent him to do to NEPA. Prepare to auction it. Because everyone know that constant power supply is the moral burden weighing down the Nigerian eagle and the full realization of her industrial power. Such an anti-people policy could never be uttered by Peter Obi. Peter Obi was in Morocco last year to understudy—among other things—their electricity generation, distribution, and costing model. Before that, he was in Egypt to do the same thing. The people would trust Peter Obi to embark on a people-friendly reform of our power sector. I do not speak for Peter Obi, but the sentiments mentioned above are gleaned from statements he made during his run for president. Senator Tinubu made no such promises to the Nigerian people. He only said it was his turn. Daniel, please stop the gas lighting. Seven months in, Peter would have taken us to paradise because he would have chosen a road less travelled - Courage Character Confidence Conscience Competence Commitment
