Idk if it was intentional but I always loved how in this scene, when focused on Benedict (Sophie's POV), the camera is steady. But when focused on her (Benedict's POV), it's shaky. Sophie always knew the reality of their relationship. But to Ben, it's only starting to unravel.

The thing is... did Sophie ask him if he ever felt out place while they were at My Cottage??? I don't think she did. That conversation happened at the masquerade. And it's almost as if Benedict subconsciously already sees her as the Lady in Silver.

Examples. I feel like these 2 scenes could have easily been framed as more "hot and heavy". But Benedict was restraining himself. He couldn't help wanting to be around Sophie, but he put in extra effort not to put her in a position where she might be forced to acquiesce.

Sophie was always told to remember her place. And yet, technically, she overstepped here. I think that's a testament to how Benedict never treated Sophie differently and she felt that subconsciously. She could speak her mind to him cause he never made her feel like she couldn't.

Something I'll always love about Benophie's story is Benedict, in the end, not caring about Sophie's illegitimacy or social status. He was ready to leave society behind for her. But there was a chance for Sophie to finally live the life she deserved, so they took it.
