Nacho did about 3 tests here. Shorting $20 was to see whether they run tight business or let things slide. Then acting offended when acused of shorting was to see how they diffuse a dispute. In case anyone doesnt know, the reason Mike didnt bring a gun was because he already did research on the crew theyre going to meet up with. He knows theyre dealing drugs behind their boss’s back and would almost certainly be killed if he found out. Mike knows its in their best interest to make sure the deal goes as smoothly as possible.

I love the parallel between Gus/Hector and Jimmy/Chuck. Both Hector and Chuck knew and were right about their adversaries but both Gus and Jimmy did such a perfect job of making them seem crazy and vindictive to the point no one wanted to believe them.

The plan Hector came up with is unironically pretty damn smart, but the best part is that he tells Mike he knows he is an ex-cop. He is being as respectful as possible, but him saying that tells Mike that Hector did his research on him beforehand. It also makes Mike wonder how much else he knows. It comes off as just part of his plan, but it is also a disguised threat.
