In case anyone doesnt know, the reason Mike didnt bring a gun was because he already did research on the crew theyre going to meet up with. He knows theyre dealing drugs behind their boss’s back and would almost certainly be killed if he found out. Mike knows its in their best interest to make sure the deal goes as smoothly as possible.

The plan Hector came up with is unironically pretty damn smart, but the best part is that he tells Mike he knows he is an ex-cop. He is being as respectful as possible, but him saying that tells Mike that Hector did his research on him beforehand. It also makes Mike wonder how much else he knows. It comes off as just part of his plan, but it is also a disguised threat.
