🎶 “Nuttin’ But Love” It’s not a comeback album, but it was sort of a “bounce back” album after Blue Funk underperformed. It was almost like his Mr. Smith. Nuttin But Love reminded everybody that nobody made fun rap records better than Heavy D. And this video is a 90s classic.

🎶 “Think Of You” I’ve always felt that Usher’s debut was a commercial disappointment bcuz its overly “adult” themes threw some folks off coming from a tenth grader. But I’ve NEVER understood why this wasn’t a MONSTER single. Shoulda been his “I Wanna Be Down.” Great song.

🎶 “N.E. Heartbreak” Would people NOT call this “new jack swing?” Just because it’s not produced by Teddy? That seems weird. Sidebar: I’ve always wondered why Dan Aykroyd was in “We Are the World.” And I’ve always wondered why Kevin from “Mr. Belvedere” is in this video.

🎶 “Ghetto Bastard (Everything’s Gonna Be Alright)” Still think it’s a criminally underrated song. It was one of the first “street” rap songs I remember that really felt vulnerable and introspective. That “How will I do it? How will I make? I won’t. That’s how” is devastating.

🎶 “Pick It Up” This is another song that may not be all that well-known if you didn’t live in the southeast circa 1992, but Home Team was everywhere. Born out of Poison Clan, they were a different look for GA/FLA rap at the time. Super unique for Luke Records.
