Have you ever seen Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān or Shaykh Sulaymān al-Ruhaylī meeting with women, being invited into homes where they’re dressed up, posing for photos, and smiling for the camera? These scholars are called “harsh” simply for following the Sunnah. But when Mufti Menk does things that cross clear boundaries, people say, “He’s soft and friendly.” True softness is in obedience to Allah, not in pleasing people. Don’t put down scholars who stick to the truth while praising those who cross the line.
