UPDATE: The University of Northern Colorado Bears have gone through over three months of difficult training in Coach Hill's conditioning program. On the field today for the third straight afternoon of spring football. It's important to break away from the regular schedule from time to time for team building. Today was the Linemen Challenge. Offensive Linemen vs. Defensive Linemen in a field goal contest. Enjoy.

Former CSU Running Back Bears Down: Vann Schield was an up and coming star at CSU. Unfortunately for the Rams, Schield was looking for a different program that appreciated his talents. UPDATE: And then this happened. In an individual tackling drill, redshirt junior defensive back Zach Pekarek shocked his teammates by going airborne. Pekarek made some big plays for the Bears last year including a blocked punt. Today he had some fun when he carried the ball in this drill. It was one of the highlights of the day as the Bears finish their second week of spring football. Pekarek is from Burlington in eastern Colorado and played high school football at Ponderosa in Parker. He transfered to UNC over two years ago from Nebraska-Kearney. #STBC #BearWitness

UPDATE: Former UNC Bears Cornerbacks Coach DJ Williams left for Abilene Christian in January. Josh Thornton was the perfect coach to fill the void left by Williams. Thornton played for Coach Lamb when Southern Utah won the Big Sky Conference Championship a decade ago. He came in with Lamb and has known most of the players for a couple of years. After his college career, he played in Detroit, Houston, Carolina and Buffalo along with a couple of seasons in the XFL and CFL. He grew up in Belle Glade, Florida where you can find a current or former NFL player almost anywhere you turn. He's great for this program. He cares about the young men. Thornton sets a great example, handles himself like a pro and is willing to do the dirty work to make the program succussful. As difficult as it was to see Williams go, I'm excited for Thornton and the players on this roster. #BearWitness #STBC

It was a spirited and enthusiastic practice today as the (0-5) Bears prepare for (5-0) Montana State on Saturday in Bozeman at 2pm. Head coach Ed Lamb is building the program with high school recruits and transfers who fit the culture. Winning seasons typically occur a few years after the first recruiting class steps onto the field. Lamb isn't concerned about critics. #BearWitness #STBC Northern Colorado Football

The Bears will miss Tight End Fisher Clements who'll have surgery this week on his shoulder. He's out until next season. Clements has been dealing with the pain since spring practice after he tore his labrum. He said this would be best for the team and himself. UPDATE: When he was a junior in high school on the basketball court at Eaglecrest High School (Aurora, CO) Cam Chapa visualized becoming Freshman of The Year in college football. Chapa accomplished that after his first season at Northern Colorado last fall. He was named one of FCS Football Central's Freshmen All-Americans. He was only on campus for a few weeks before the coaching staff determined that he needed to start for the Bears. He has everything a player needs to become one of the best in the country.

As the saying goes..."If you want to make God laugh, tell him what's going to happen tomorrow". Northern Colorado Football R-Jr. Defensive Lineman David Hoage was one of the rising stars in the Big Sky Conference two years ago. Everyone was talking about No. 34 from UNC. Then he tore his knee. Hoage says tough love has humbled him after season ending surgeries the past two seasons. His attitude is inspirational. You can see the entire story at Thank you for your support and GO BEARS!

Greeley, CO - In arguably the most important scrimmage of fall camp, the defense pleased Head Coach Ed Lamb as he feels like they took a step forward. At the same time, Lamb told his team that the offensive production has made the defense better. Quarterbacks Peter Costelli and Hank Gibbs ran their offensive units well. Costelli broke free on a couple of plays. Running Back David Afari ripped off some huge runs including a long touchdown. Vann Schield ran with authority as did Kamron Randell-Taylor, Jacquez Robertson and Jordan Hornbeak. Freshman RB Mathias Price will be fun to watch in the years to come. He is 6'2" 215lbs. and runs downhill on every play. RBs Caden Meis and Darius Stewart are getting closer to returning after suffering frustrating injuries. WR River Stout hauled in a big catch as did Ryder MacGillivray for a touchdown. Hunter Green was perfect on all of his field goals and extra points. The defense is young but players like KJ Smedley continue to fly around and make plays every scrimmage and practice. RB Justin Guin (Jr. Transfer Fresno State) made some big plays including a touchdown reception and rush. Northern Colorado Football

He's a cornerstone in Northern Colorado Football and Coach Eddie Gonzales III is always working to give the players and coaches the best support possible. Defensive Back Franky Morales is in his Junior season and he's become one of the most dynamic players on the team. He's recovering from an injury but is set to kickoff the season at full speed next weekend in San Antonio at Incarnate Word. Northern Colorado Football Franky X. Morales
