**The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is rewriting the future for students, and Black students carry the heaviest weight.** Starting July 1, 2026, the law caps federal student loans at $257,500 for life and eliminates Grad PLUS, the program grad students relied on to cover their full cost of attendance. It also replaces income-driven repayment plans like IBR, PAYE, and SAVE with a new system that costs borrowers more each month. Black borrowers already carry the highest average student loan balances of any group, so this hits home hard. The bill cuts nearly $350 billion from education funding, with $287 billion sliced from SNAP and $900 billion from health programs. Medicaid ranks as the third-largest funder of K-12 public education, so these cuts ripple straight into classrooms and services for students with disabilities. The bill also launches the nation's first federal school voucher program. Vouchers trace back to segregationists who used them to dodge Brown v. Board of Education, and they continue to deepen racial segregation today. Black college students report sacrificing basic needs just to stay enrolled as tuition climbs toward six figures at some schools. The article can be found at [ HBCUs serve large populations of low-income and first-generation students, and shrinking Medicaid and SNAP support puts real pressure on their ability to stay enrolled and finish strong. **Know the facts. Share the facts. Protect access to education for the next generation.** #StudentDebt #EducationEquity #HBCUs #BlackStudentsMatter #ProtectFinancialAid #OneBigBeautifulBillAct #CollegeAffordability #KnowYourRights

The largest Antebellum mansion in the South, dating back to 1859, has been destroyed by a fire and the #slaves that built the place are now free and truly resting. The #NottowayPlantation is one of the largest historic mansions in the South. It's located on the famous River Road between #BatonRouge and #NewOrleans. The mansion, which sits on 31 acres, is known for its massive white columns and grand balconies that overlook the #Mississippi River. On the other side, three-story rotundas overlooked the lawns, dotted with the large oak trees. The oldest tree on the property is about 162 years old—about the same age as the mansion, according to Nottoway's resort website. It's also a piece of #American #history🙄that stirs debate and dark memories. The #plantation was once owned by John Hampden Rudolph, a sugar planter. The 64-room, 53,000 square foot property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The fire at Nottoway Plantation in White Castle, LA—just outside Baton Rouge—broke out around 2pm on Thursday, May 15 and reduced the 160-year-old landmark to rubble. It's believed slaves build the home. By 1860, Randolph owned 155 enslaved #Black people who helped maintain the plantation. During the #CivilWar, Nottoway Plantation was able to avoid any major damage. Its early history is undeniably tied to a time of great injustice, personally I don’t have any remorse that this place is gone!!

This is Don Scott, he’s the #Virginia Speaker of the House. The night of the election he’s going to get at least 55 seats, he ended up getting 64 seats, flipping 13 #republican seats #democrat. They now have a supermajority! The reason why I bring this up, imagine if #President #JoeBiden would have had a 64 supermajority in the #Senate how much more could he have gotten done? #VotingMatters!!

🤨It's amusing to see how this fool believed he was embraced by the #MAGA #cult. Just 72 hours in, and they're already making it clear that he’s not part of the white movement—they only wanted his #vote! It's hard to believe this is real! #BlacksforTrump #WeTriedToTellYa #lol

How many #blacks that didn’t vote how much did #trump win in #Georgia and #NorthCarolina. In Georgia 1,016,000 #blackpeople didn’t #vote, trump won by 115,000 votes. In North Carolina 661,000 black people didn’t vote, trump won by 183,000 votes 40% of black people did not vote in the 2024 election but 70% of WHITE #evangelicals voted for trump Speaker Mike Johnson became the speaker by 7000 votes Our silence and #misinformation is killing us! Thank you rolandsmartin for bring these numbers to light and it’s a shame.

Ummmm This is what I mean by being corrected when a lie is exposed. Byron Donalds lied in these two segments and was corrected, but afterward, he had nothing to say. His problem is that he comes from a Fox News mentality, where he believes he can say anything without facing pushback when it aligns with their narratives. #ByronDonalds #narratives #lies #FoxNews

Vertical integration, self-funding, a standing output deal, and precise timing on cashing out - together they're called the Tyler Perry model, or full-stack ownership in entertainment business terms. Perry owns the studio, production, and distribution, so profit stays with him. Self-funding keeps creative control in his hands, free of outside approval. His output deals with networks guarantee steady revenue that funds the next project. His real estate moves, especially Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, lock in long-term value instead of one-time paydays. This blueprint gets cited often in Black entrepreneurship circles as proof of what ownership over salary can build.🎬 #tylerperry #madea #blackhollywood #filmcommunity #tylerperrystudios
