I used to attend an “action pistol” night at a local indoor range run by some very nice, well-intentioned, heavily tactical guys. Their preferred activity was always scenario training—which, in an indoor live-fire bay, is a complete waste of range time. I managed to talk them into letting me run the drills for a few sessions. That lasted maybe three nights. The final straw was when I had everyone shoot the FAST test. The head guy finished in 12 seconds… and missed all six shots, for a 20-second score with penalties. Anything over 10 is a fail. I had every shooter write their score on a whiteboard as a motivator. That was the end of me choosing the night’s activities.
