Advocate Zubair Baloch was a peaceful political activist and a staunch defender of human rights. In Dalbandin, Chagai district, Balochistan, the Pakistan Army raided a house and killed him along with his companion, Nasir Baloch. Shamelessly, the Pakistan Army has admitted responsibility for this attack and the killings. This was an act of pure state terrorism. Advocate Zubair was a powerful voice in Balochistan — speaking against enforced disappearances, the plunder of resources, and ongoing human rights violations. For this very reason, he was deliberately targeted and assassinated. The Pakistani military continues to brand the Baloch national struggle — a genuine, deeply rooted indigenous movement against occupation — as “foreign interference,” even using terms like “Fitna-al-Hindustan” to mislead the world. Such propaganda reflects the state’s immaturity, its hatred, and its desperation to delegitimize a just, homegrown movement. These attacks make no distinction — women, children, and peaceful activists are not spared. The killing of Chairman Zubair is further undeniable proof that Pakistan seeks to silence every voice raised for Baloch rights. Chairman Zubair Baloch, former Chairman of BSO (Pajjar) — the student wing of a parliamentary party — was a law graduate committed to peaceful politics. His assassination exposes the state’s systematic attempt to crush peaceful dissent and wipe out an entire nation. This is part of the ongoing #Baloch #genocide. Today, Pakistan stands at the United Nations (United Nations ) pretending to champion human rights — yet the truth is clear: its army tramples every law, storms homes, and kills unarmed civilians, women, and even infants. Geneva: BNM’s formal activities at the UN Human Rights Council’s 61st session began today and will continue until 28 March 2026. #BNMGlobalCampaign BNM member Saleem Ellahi Baloch addressed the Council, speaking not only as an activist but also as a brother. Today marks 12 years since his elder brother, Zahid Baloch, former Chairman of BSO AZAD, was forcibly disappeared by the Pakistan army, with no information about his fate. He also highlighted the killing of his brother Shah Jahan in 2025, illegal detention of Mahrang Baloch and Baloch Yakjehti Committee leaders and the ongoing threats, displacement and collective punishment faced by families of activists in Balochistan. #HRC61 #BNMatHRC61

He called for an independent investigation, accountability, and the protection of fundamental rights. #BNMGlobalCampaign #BNMatHRC61 #HRC61 Here is the complete text of his speech : Distinguished Chair, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to raise serious concerns about the human rights situation in Balochistan. Reports by Amnesty International say that enforced disappearances, torture, and extrajudicial killings continue in the region. Many people are taken by security forces, disappear for long periods, and sometimes their bodies are later found. Amnesty International has described this pattern as a “kill and dump policy. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has also reported that enforced disappearances continue. Families searching for their missing loved ones often face pressure and harassment when they ask for answers. Several countries have also raised concerns. The United Kingdom has spoken about reports of mass graves in Balochistan and continues to raise human rights issues with Pakistan. The United States, in its annual human rights report, has documented cases of killings, disappearances, and torture. Members of the European Union, including the Netherlands, have also highlighted these concerns. Experts at the United Nations Human Rights Council have called on Pakistan to investigate these cases and respect international human rights law. We respectfully ask this Council to support an independent investigation, ensure accountability, and help protect the basic rights of the people of Balochistan. Thank you.
