Isaiah Thomas was on the CNN Podcast All There Is with Anderson Cooper this week. After the tragic passing of his younger sister, Chyna, which happened right before the playoffs, he got a long text from Kobe Bryant. "At the end of the text, he said, ‘If you are going to play, there's no excuses. And you're going to be who you always been.' "Kobe Bryant is my favorite player ever. So to see him reach out to me and say, if you are going to play, you go out there and be who you are, because that's what your sister would want. There was no other way around it. That's what I was doing."

Jayson Tatum on Jaylen Brown’s ejection: “I disagree with it. The NBA makes a big deal about prime-time games and stars playing and being available.” “National TV game, two of the best teams in the league, and you make a big deal about stars playing, then you (get) trigger-happy and throw somebody out the game, I disagree with it.” 🎥: Celtics on NBC Sports Boston

Jayson Tatum on reintegrating into the Celtics: “It’s been seamless, I would say. I’ve played with most of these guys for a long time.” “Toughest part for me is being on a minutes restriction. That **** sucks quite frankly…Obviously, I understand the bigger picture.” 🎥: Celtics on NBC Sports Boston

Jayson Tatum: “It might not seem like it, cause I’m back playing, but it was a very, very long time for me not to be doing what I love to do. “So, I can’t stress it enough, the fact that I get to put my uniform on and run out there with the team is a win for me...The amount of joy I’ve been able to find just being back out there and being out there with my teammates is all I think about.”

Blake Griffin on 7PM in Brooklyn on playing in Boston: “I loved Boston. I love those guys. I was so happy for them when they won...I played in LA for the Clippers. I played in New York for the Nets. It's a Lakers town. It's a Knicks town. That was the first time I really played for a team where it was like, everybody in that city is rocking with you. I went out to dinner 10 times, no check, you know what I mean? In Boston, like I said, I'm playing every five.” Full EP:

Jayson Tatum on when he might make his return while on Today With Jenna & Friends: "That is the million-dollar question. I think for me and my team, the doctors, the organization, the most important thing is making a full recovery, [and] being back 100%. Not rushing it. But I haven't said like, 'Yo, I'm not playing this season,' or anything like that." "Do you have a goal in your mind?" "I have a goal in my mind...I'm not working out, rehabbing six days a week for no reason."

Joe Mazzulla on Baylor Scheierman: “He doesn’t care about anything except competing, and that doesn’t get rewarded enough.” “When you have a guy that doesn’t miss a beat, regardless of the situation or the circumstances that he’s in, you kind of see stuff like that.” 🎥: Celtics on NBC Sports Boston

Jaylen Brown to Ramona Shelburne on LeBron James talking about Brown’s MVP case after the Celtics’ win over the Lakers: “Just come with the same mentality as I have from day one. Don't let the praise or the warmth or the criticism make or break you. Just come out and be Jaylen Brown. “Who I am, I feel like I'm the best two-way player in the world. I play both ends on the court night-to-night. I'm available, which is hard to do. I'm a leader. Help lead my team, empower my team to come out and play confidently, stuff that doesn't always show up on the analytics. And I'm a winner. I come out and try to win every single night. “So, I'm grateful. It's an honor to play in the Celtics-Lakers rivalry. It's an honor for LeBron, who's arguably the best player to ever play the game, giving me some high praise. So, I'm just grateful. I wake up every morning grateful (and) humbled.”

Jayson Tatum on responding to getting knocked on the floor and his body feeling sore after logging 30+ minutes: “I enjoy all aspects of coming back to play, not even — not just the fun parts, like, getting knocked on your ass and falling is a part of being in the NBA. “When he pushed me, you know, it knocked me off balance, but I laid there for a second. I was like, ‘Alright, no, I'm fine.’ “And it's just moments like that, where it's been a while since something like that has happened, so it is like a good feeling of like, alright, you know, I’m back.”

I asked Jaylen Brown about what he saw from Amari Williams tonight. Williams came up and played the most minutes of any traditional center available for the Celtics. He logged over 15 minutes and matched up with Jalen Duren. “He looked great…He gave us that physicality that we needed down there…A big body like Amari makes a big difference.”

Jayson Tatum on when he decided to chase Larry Bird to become the best Celtic ever: “Once you win a championship, it’s like alright, you can be in those rooms with the Celtics legends. But it doesn’t just stop at one. You’ve obviously got to win multiple, and that’s what we’re trying to do. “And I always wanted to be the best. And he’s, in my opinion, the best Celtic ever, and he did it the right way, and he’s a great guy to chase in a sense.” 🎥: Celtics on NBC Sports Boston

Jaylen Brown on his ejection against the Spurs: “I don’t think I deserved to get tossed, and I think the NBA agreed because I didn’t get fined or anything like that.” He also said he had that game circled and “I felt like I was ready to have a big-time performance.” 🎥: Celtics on NBC Sports Boston

"There's nothing about an Achilles rupture that should prevent him from coming back better than he was before." I spoke with Kevin R Stone MD, a leading expert in Achilles tendon repair, about advancements in treating an Achilles tear, cautions with a speed bridge procedure, Jayson Tatum's ability to return to All-NBA form, and more. Robert Parish on the key to the Celtics sustained success in the 80s: “We know we wasn't gonna win a championship or championships playing like individuals.” He also said that started with Larry Bird and that everyone else followed suit. “We all bought into this philosophy, you’re playing for the name on front of the jersey, not the name on the back of the jersey. And I think we all bought into that.”
