There have been numerous accusations against Ameer during his tenure as Finance Minister, many of which were closely associated with Fayyaz Ismail. Ameer is involved in major corruption, including the Velana Airport Project. It is claimed that a significant portion of projects, reportedly up to 90% were awarded through improper influence exerted over the Tender Board. Also Ameer demanded commissions ranging from 10% to 20% from contractor payments. In addition to these concerns, Ameer was often described as rude and disrespectful, frequently misusing his authority against members of the MDP in a highly notorious manner. Moreover, Ameer was identified as a central figure in the so-called “Vagunge Network,” which Nasheed himself has brought to public attention. Yet today, he stands alongside the same individuals, presenting them as his primary campaign team.
