I’ve watched everything from Mirza Ćatović and Adin Ličina with Germany U19, who are now set to face Spain in the final. Ćatović has been a key player, while Ličina impressed vs Spain in the group stage but is competing with players like Culbreath / Onyeka. I’ve been tweeting about these boys for more than 2/3 years already so there isn’t a lot to add, but there have been some developments worth talking about. Rewatching Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Argentina. I don’t think most people fully realize how good we were back then. First 15 minutes of a World Cup. That midfield of Pjanić, Misimović, and Bešić… just look at the quality on the ball, and the counter-pressing after that chance.

Only 1 goal conceded in 5 matches (best defensive start in a long time?) for Feyenoord. Looking forward to Europe & the bigger games. For the last 2 years many (myself included) have wondered why no club picked up Anel Ahmedhodžić at Sheffield Utd, well, Van Persie etc are now thinking the same. People judging based on clubs/leagues tried to downplay him as a player, but it was obvious he was capable of more, it was only a matter of time. I translated this part for the non-Dutch speakers, but besides this RVP also praised him for his clean defending while still being direct in it.

Creative, mobile, and highly intelligent in his movements. Makes his zone & teammates around him play better. Comfortable out wide, centrally, and with his back to goal. The combination of his technical and IQ traits, paired with his build and how smoothly he moves, makes him special. A future key player, without a doubt.

📹 | Luka Kulenović (25, ST) vs Ajax A player who rose from the bottom — difficult youth career & slow start in senior football — to a record purchase for an Eredivisie club. Also shows glimpses that there is more to come. Main strengths: back-to-goal play, aerially dominant, box instincts & work-rate. Knows how to use his body (leans into CBs) & has also a decent understanding of space. You can tell he's from North America — his athleticism, explosiveness & build is good. I am convinced that he is being monitored by our coaching staff, but also by Canada. A realistic & useful profile to add to our NT. Would definitely add good depth at this moment.

A surprisingly good debut from Nikola Katić vs 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Played like it was his 50th cap. My MOTM. Can command from the middle of a back 3, controlled the territory, a physical presence, tight to his attacker and has good leadership qualities. He's also composed and secure in possession. Katić was chosen as the best CB of the season in the Swiss league. Just entered his prime. If he delivers an acceptable performance vs 🇮🇹, he will most likely get the CCB role in the Nations League. It'll be between Katić and Barišić. Even though Barišić is a more complete defender, Katić has qualities we'll need against high-level opponents in the NL. It'll depend on the opponent and approach of the game. Either way, he's great competition for now.
