On this day in 1984, the 14th Winter Olympic Games were officially inaugurated in Bosnia’s capital Sarajevo.

Goosebumps. “Edin Dzeko” chants in a packed house one hour before the match.

Ripping a 13 year old boy from his Mum’s arms in order to have him mercilessly executed alongside other #Srebrenica men and boys and thrown into mass graves. The brave Serbian armies.

Crashing the presser

Every Edin Džeko goal for Bosnia 🇧🇦 ⚽️

Serb celebrations in #Srebrenica, 1996. The ground still soaked in blood.

Thank you, legend! 🇧🇦💙 #EdinDzeko

Serbs filmed their heroics as trophies. Bodies would be dumped in secondary and tertiary mass graves in order to conceal their crimes. One boy’s bones were found in four separate mass graves. Even the Nazis could have learned something. #Srebrenica

Video footage of Dutch Colonel Karremans being scolded like a schoolboy by war criminal pig Mladic. They could have stopped it. They chose cowardice and compliance. #Srebrenica #BosnianGenocide

“Baby is dead” Srebrenica, “UN-protected” Safe Area, 1993. UN doctors returning dead boy’s body to his parents. #SrebrenicaGenocide #Srebrenica

This is how library staff in #Sarajevo dodged snipers to save 10,000 precious books and manuscripts during the genocide in Bosnia. #WorldBookDay

In one voice. Moments like this live in eternity. 🇧🇦⚜️🇧🇦⚜️

Empty homes and vacant chairs, echo their absence. Their laughter and their dreams, robbed in cruel pretense, In this sorrow-riddled land, silence screams their presence. ▪️ The wailing of the #Srebrenica mothers is something that stays with you forever.

Never forget the betrayal and the brutality. Never forget #Srebrenica and the wider Bosnian genocide. ▪️

Seattle we out here ⚜️🇧🇦

Goosebumps. Volim te Bosno! 🇧🇦

Meanwhile, Bosnian men trying to escape from #Srebrenica took shelter in the mountains, but they were easily caught and killed thanks to the heavy weapons of the Serbs. Thousands were executed or died attempting to flee.
