Today, it was my Office of New York City Comptroller Mark Levine office that discovered that $80 MILLION in already authorized, allocated, and paid federal aid was WIPED from the City's bank account. Let's be crystal clear: This is highway robbery. Elon Musk, with no legal authority, illegally seized federal funds from New Yorkers.

I talked with Dana Bash today about what a Jewish and democratic Israel — consistent with its own Declaration of Independence, and something I long to see — would actually look like. A few key points: 1. Israel can't be a genuine democracy while it's occupying the West Bank & Gaza and denying civil & political rights to Palestinians there, fully half the people under its rule. 2. Like B’Tselem, Omer Bartov, and the Lemkin Institute, I think — with deep sadness — that Israel's conduct in Gaza meets the definition of genocide. But even if you don’t, it’s profoundly inconsistent with the Jewish value that every one of those Palestinian kids were created in the image of God, just like ours. 3. The freedom, safety & thriving of both Israelis and Palestinians is deeply intertwined. Israelis will not be safe until Palestinians are free. We need a U.S. foreign policy aimed firmly at making this real. Shabbat Shalom to everyone, and especially to everyone who refuses to compromise on anyone else’s humanity.

Rodneyse Bichotte’s corrupt effort to cling to power as chair of the Brooklyn Democratic Party is rightly stirring outrage across the spectrum of Democratic leaders. Her ship is sinking. Hopefully the district leaders who lost their elections in June will respect the will of the voters tonight, rather than sink themselves along with her. The Kings County Democratic Organization has sadly been a place of corruption and self-serving leadership for decades. Hopefully today, but certainly soon: a change is gonna come.

Tonight, I'll go home and sleep in my bed. I have a lawyer, I'll get due process. But Edgardo, whose arm was ripped from mine by ICE agents, has none of those things. That's why I'll keep coming back to court, week after week, to make sure that people's rights are protected.

Meg & I aren’t big on tattoos, so we were a little nervous when Marek & Rosa first told us they were getting them. But what they came home with made us cry (well, me anyway). What we most wanted as parents was to give our kids a home where they felt safe & able to be themselves. For the past three decades, I’ve worked to stop evictions & build affordable housing, so more parents around here could do that. My #1 goal in Congress will be to make it possible for everyone.
