Loud BP from freshman Genson Veras. Six-foot-six, 235-lb outfielder. Consistently producing exit velos north of 106 MPH. Smoked one at 108 right off the pitching machine. This swing produced a 109 MPH/441 ft laser over the CF fence:

This baseball was absolutely crushed by Myles Bailey. One of the furthest I have seen in my time covering the program. I am 99% certain it would have hit the circus tent if it was standing, pretty sure it landed on the concrete surface of the circus. 112 MPH exit velo.

Myles Bailey pulverized a two-strike heater for an absolute no-doubt homer. Easily cleared the row of trees in front of the parking lot beyond the RF fence. Just laughable power with a metal bat in his hand. Draft-eligible sophomore.

This baseball was launched by Cal Fisher. Cleared the scoreboard in left field and probably damaged a car in the parking lot out there. Two knocks for him today to go along with a couple of defensive highlights. Made a great catch on a pop-up in foul territory.

Cal Fisher made some big swings in big games as a true freshman but this is still the best swing I've seen him put on a baseball. Jumped on a FB on the outer-half for a no-doubter over the fence. A really good start to the fall for the rising sophomore.

Freshman Charlie Buckles was all over a first-pitch changeup, sending it over the RF fence for a homer. 107 exit velo from the six-foot-six, 230-pound left-handed hitter. FSU's staff has highlighted his raw power in press conferences in recent weeks.

Freshman Kelvyn Paulino Jr. produced a pair of hard-hit balls in the scrimmage. 108 exit velo resulted in a groundout. Lined a single up the middle in his last AB for a single (98 EV). Highest-ranked player to make it to campus from FSU's class per PG.

Good to see RS-Fr. Payton Manca on the mound at FSU. Missed last year recovering from Tommy John. First live look for me. 6'6", 255 lb. southpaw from Mass. Mostly FB-CB combo today. FB worked up to 90 paired with the CB at 77-79. Produced a K with the curve.

Two ABs for freshman Kelvyn Paulino Jr., two liners ripped to the opposite field. Settled for a long single off the fence in his first AB. Good jump in center took away potential extra-bases in the gap on the second. 99 & 98 EV:

Catcher Marvin Montenegro had a monster day with a pair of homers. Pulled the hands in on a well-executed 95 MPH FB for the first, nearly clearing the bullpen (98 EV/373 FT). Absolutely pulverized a first-pitch FB in his next AB, soared into the parking lot (107/413). Both HRs:

#FSU commit Donovan Thiery (‘26) was pumping 93-97 MPH in Jupiter tonight (feels like in the low 40s). 4-pitch mix with a hi-80s cutter, mid-80s CH, and lo-80s breaker. Commanded breaking ball well, produced mutliple Ks with it. Great athleticism at six-foot-five.

It's not an accident that these hitters drive the ball so well to the opposite field. Tracked swings in the final three rounds of BP today, about 70% went oppo or to center. Some of those swings (Carns, McCulley, Cmeyla, Faurot, Fisher, Lodise, West, Bailey, & Williams):

FR Noah Sheffield impacted the baseball well in BP this afternoon. He has some more juice at the plate than I expected, powered a couple of balls into and over the pen. Gets the waggle from dad (yes, Gary), intrigued to see how his timing holds up against college velo.

This is as good as it gets on the mound in college baseball. 18 pitches for Jamie Arnold, generated seven swings-and-misses and four strikeouts. Slider and changeup were both nasty. CH was the best its ever been today. Easy 93-94 with the FB. Here's 35 seconds of elite stuff:

JUCO transfer Blaydon Plain is another imposing physical presence in the LHH box. 6'5", 219 pounds. He's likely up there with Max Williams for the highest AVG exit velos on the team. RF fence should be his friend with his pull-side juice.

Ben Barrett's velocity continues to tick up. Touched 97 with his powerful sinker and sat 94-96 over two frames. Pairs it with a nasty cutter (87-89) that tied up left-handed hitters.

Jamie Arnold was at his best tonight. Five-pitch mix with the 4S, SNK, CT, CH, and SL. Thought tonight was the most he’s mixed it up, likely highest usage of the CT/CH yet. Produced 19 swings and misses. Nearly two minutes of Arnold’s outing from behind the plate:
