Reiner in 2001 that a defendant can plead the fifth if there's a reasonable expectation that they'll be exposed to criminal liability, even if they're innocent. And we know that there is the risk of exposure because Rand Paul said that he is not going to rest until Anthony Fauci is prosecuted. And this DOJ has shown that it's perfectly willing to prosecute all of its enemies. It's attempted to do so to Jack Smith, Cassidy Hutchinson, Jerome Powell, Letitia James, James Comey, John Brennan, David Hern, the six Democrats who dared recite what the UCMJ said, and even a guy who threw a subway sandwich at a federal agent. None of those prosecutions went forward, but that doesn't mean the DOJ hadn't tried.
