In this episode, Tyler shares his perspective on what it will actually take for digital assets to become usable money and why privacy is essential for adoption at scale. For the first time publicly, Tyler discusses his longtime support for Zano, what he believes the project has gotten right, and why its approach to privacy and security has positioned it ahead of the curve in preparing for emerging AI threats. We also discuss stablecoins, private digital dollars, Zano’s Hard Fork 6, cross-chain interoperability & Zcash. Flock Safety: Is America Building a “Pre-Crime” Surveillance State? | Free the Money Ep. 39 Are we moving toward a “pre-crime” surveillance state where authorities can track your movements, build a profile of your behavior, and potentially decide you’re suspicious before you’ve even committed a crime? Jason Bassler, co-founder of the Free Thought Project, joins me to expose Flock and the rapidly expanding surveillance infrastructure being built across America. We break down how Flock’s automated license plate readers (ALPRs) can track far more than just a license plate, creating a “digital fingerprint” of your vehicle and logging your daily movements. Jason also discusses documented cases of police abusing ALPRs, innocent people being wrongfully stopped or held at gunpoint, and Flock data being accessed beyond local police. He says ICE, the ATF, FBI, and DHS have accessed Flock data that cities never approved. Key points we cover: -Flock Safety’s nationwide network of ALPR cameras and its expanding drone technology -Why ALPRs account for less than 1% of crime clearance in many departments—meaning roughly 99% of the surveillance collected is on innocent people -Motorola Signal Trace technology that can detect wireless signals from phones, Bluetooth devices, AirPods, and wearables -The growing push for age verification and digital ID across the internet -Why taxpayers could be spending roughly $360 million per year on Flock cameras -The Fourth Amendment questions surrounding mass location tracking -Why financial privacy and private digital money matter in an increasingly surveilled world -How communities are fighting back through FOIA requests, city councils, and projects like DeFlock Remember to subscribe and hit the bell “🔔” icon to get notifications. Japan Could Trigger the Next Financial Crisis | Dr. Jim Willie | Free the Money Ep. 37 Dr. Jim Willie returns to Free the Money warning that the next several months could be critical for the economy. At the center of the conversation is Japan and the yen carry trade, particularly the recent joint U.S.–Japan intervention to support the yen. Jim argues that the bigger concern is what a disorderly carry trade unwind could mean for U.S. Treasuries, interest rates and the broader financial system. Key Points: •Jim says persistent high oil and diesel prices could significantly worsen economic conditions. Diesel is his key “litmus test” because of its impact on transportation, businesses and consumers. •The Fed faces a difficult tradeoff. Jim argues that high energy costs are creating “cost inflation” while the economy weakens, potentially forcing the Fed to cut rates despite continued inflation. •Jim believes the Yen carry trade is much larger than commonly acknowledged, potentially $5–7 trillion or more—with significant exposure across Wall Street, Japan and Europe. •An unwind could put pressure on U.S. Treasuries. Investors exiting yen funded trades may have to sell Treasuries and buy yen to repay their debt. Jim believes higher Japanese rates could accelerate that process and interprets the joint currency intervention as an effort to contain the risk. •Intervention may only buy time. Jim describes currency intervention as a “Band-Aid,” noting that previous attempts to strengthen the yen provided only temporary relief. •Higher U.S. rates could deepen economic weakness. Jim expects elevated Treasury yields to mean higher mortgage costs, more foreclosures and further housing weakness, predicting home prices could fall another 15–20%. •Jim sees a Middle East peace agreement as one possible pressure-release valve. He believes there is strong incentive for the Trump administration to move toward a broader agreement involving Iran, Gulf Arab states and Israel, potentially connected to an expansion of the Abraham Accords. •The bigger question is confidence in the dollar-based system. Jim describes the yen, euro and pound as essentially “dollars with a different jacket on” and believes Treasury-market instability could accelerate the move away from using U.S. government debt in international settlement. According to Jason Bassler, ALPRs account for under 1% of crime clearance in many departments, meaning roughly 99% of the surveillance being collected is on innocent people. Are we moving from innocent until proven guilty to guilty until proven innocent? It’s starting to sound a lot like the Minority Report... #DeFlock

"The Flock issue is a mirror into what's been happening on the internet for over a decade."- LukΞ Mulks 🦁⟁◎⟁ The same third-party data collection that's been building detailed profiles of us online is now becoming visible in the physical world through systems like Flock Safety. When you combine license plate readers, location data, audio and years of online tracking, you end up with an incredibly detailed surveillance profile. As Luke points out, once that data exists, it can be misused, whether by governments, bad actors, or anyone else who gains access to it. The Fourth Amendment exists to protect against unreasonable government surveillance and overreach, making this more than just a technology issue—it's a civil liberties issue. He also raises another concern that's often overlooked: the security of these systems themselves. If we're worried about foreign adversaries, why are we collecting and storing massive amounts of sensitive location and behavioral data on third-party servers in the first place? If those systems are vulnerable, that data doesn't just become a privacy risk, it can become a national security risk.

An estimated $470 billion worth of Bitcoin is exposed to quantum attacks. Alex Shevchenko 🇺🇦 explains why NEAR Protocol was designed with cryptographic upgrades in mind and how the network recently introduced the first approved post-quantum cryptography primitive. • Users can now add post-quantum cryptography (PQC) keys to their NEAR accounts. • Those accounts can hold assets from multiple blockchains, providing additional protection for cross-chain assets. • This marks the first step in NEAR’s broader post-quantum cryptography (PQC) roadmap. • NEAR is the first blockchain to deliver support for approved PQC keys, with future upgrades planned for chain signatures and network consensus NEAR Intents

Why the U.S. May WANT a Weaker Dollar | Andy Schectman | Free the Money Ep. 33 In this episode, I'm joined by Andy Schectman, founder and CEO of Miles Franklin Precious Metals, to discuss what he believes is the quiet restructuring of the global monetary system. We explore why central banks are aggressively repatriating their gold reserves, the expansion of new gold vaulting, clearing, and settlement infrastructure across Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Mumbai, Saudi Arabia, and the Belt and Road Initiative, and why Andy believes these new financial rails are laying the foundation for an alternative to the Western monetary system. Andy breaks down why he believes Triffin's Dilemma is at the heart of America's manufacturing decline, arguing that reserve currency status has hollowed out U.S. industry while the nation faces an estimated $200 trillion in total liabilities. We also discuss how proposals from Judy Shelton and Paul Winfree for gold-backed Treasury instruments could restore confidence in the Treasury market, weaken the dollar, rebuild American manufacturing, and provide a path out of the debt crisis. Andy explains how the GENIUS Act creates structural demand for short-term U.S. Treasuries through stablecoin issuers. He points to Tether, which already earns billions of dollars in interest from its Treasury holdings and has become one of the world's largest private buyers of gold. Andy also shares his theory that Tether could be acting as a proxy for the U.S. government—or even the Exchange Stabilization Fund—to quietly accumulate gold while keeping the government's direct involvement out of the market. We also discuss China's record silver imports despite falling prices, what massive physical gold deliveries could be signaling beneath the paper market, whether a gold revaluation is possible, AI's impact on jobs and the economy, and why Andy believes gold, silver, and financial privacy will become increasingly important in the years ahead. The Bank Surveillance Secrecy Act: How America Lost Financial Privacy | Free The Money Ep. 31 As we approach the United States' 250th anniversary, it's worth asking whether we've stayed true to the principles the country was founded on. In this episode of Free The Money, I sit down with Nick Anthony, Research Fellow at the Cato Institute and Fellow at the Human Rights Foundation (HRF), to examine the Bank Secrecy Act and how it transformed banks into de facto law enforcement and has led to decades of expanded surveillance every American. Our Founding Fathers saw how general warrants were used to ransack people's homes, searching for anything authorities could use against them. They recognized this as a fundamental threat to liberty, which is why the Fourth Amendment was created to protect Americans from unreasonable searches and government overreach. Yet today, because of the Bank Secrecy Act, millions of financial records are collected yearly, monitored, and reported to the government without a warrant. What began as a tool to combat tax evasion has evolved into a vast financial surveillance system where banks have effectively become an extension of law enforcement. Nick reported that in a single year, U.S. financial institutions spent an estimated $59 billion complying with the Bank Secrecy Act. During that same period, they filed roughly 28 million reports on their customers, yet those reports generated just 275 investigative leads for the IRS. Of those 275 leads, we don't know how many resulted in arrests or convictions. Nick argues these numbers are evidence of a broken system that subjects millions of law-abiding Americans to financial surveillance with very very little to show for it. Building on that, we also discuss the Third-Party Doctrine, the legal theory that allows the government to obtain information shared with banks and other intermediaries without a warrant. What began as financial surveillance has expanded into something much broader. In an increasingly digital world, where nearly every transaction, communication, and interaction passes through a third party, this doctrine gives the government access to vast amounts of personal information that previous generations would have considered private. As Nick explains, the government is no longer ransacking physical homes, it is increasingly able to sift through our digital lives, collecting information that reveals who we are, where we go, who we associate with, and what we believe. The result is a level of surveillance that would have been unimaginable to the Founders, raising serious questions about privacy, government overreach, and the future of protections in the digital age.
