We are very excited to announce the recent birth of a Przewalski’s horse foal! Also known as Mongolian wild horses, this species was once extinct in the wild, but populations from several sources, including zoo-bred animals, were reintroduced in China in 1989 & Mongolia in 1992.

The weather may be unpredictable this time of year, but take a tip from this tiger & get outside & explore! Amur tigers are adapted to the cold & snow & can thrive in temps as low as -40°F. They have thicker fur than other tigers, & more body fat, which acts as insulation.(1/2)

We’ve got two new babies on board! One of the recent additions to our squirrel monkey troop was born on Father’s Day, and the other over Fourth of July weekend. The young primates are on exhibit, but will stay quite close to their mothers for several weeks. (1/3)

Our first bison calf of the season is doing great! Currently weighing around 60 lbs, the calf is tiny compared to the adults, who weigh between 1500—2200 lbs for a male and 900—1200 lbs for an adult female. She is settling in well with the herd while staying close to mom.
