VIP treatment! 🤩 Last week, a Broomfield resident called the police department after discovering a duck nest in their backyard. Soon, a proud momma duck and her ducklings were ready to make their journey to the nearest pond. There was just one problem: their route required crossing the busy intersection of Lowell and Midway Boulevards. 🚦 The original plan was simple: load mom and babies into a crate and provide safe transportation to the pond. The ducklings were fully on board with the arrangement. Momma duck? Not so much. Instead, she made it clear she preferred to travel on foot. After some patience and encouragement from Animal Services Officer Voltin, momma duck began the trek to the pond while a Broomfield Patrol Officer temporarily stopped traffic to help her cross safely. Meanwhile, the ducklings—who are still working on their listening skills—received the VIP treatment and were transported in a crate to the pond. When they arrived, mom was already there, patiently waiting for her little ones to catch up. Mission accomplished. Family reunited. Pond reached. 🦆

Classic Colorado. School cancelled in the morning and by afternoon the sun is out and people are dodging chunks of snow melting and falling off the trees. You can’t make this up. Also, the roads look like they are smoking from an underground fire. Strange place we live! ❄️☀️💧 Oh, and the birds are out singing again.

Traffic violations can lead to much more. On Thursday, April 23, 2026, a Broomfield Police Officer was on patrol in the area of Highway 121 and US-36 when she observed a vehicle cross the solid white lines while exiting the turnpike. During the stop and subsequent investigation, officers located a black sock hidden in the fuse box area on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Inside the sock were individually wrapped bags containing blue pills, a black substance and a white powder. The substances later tested positive for fentanyl and heroin. Officers also recovered a substantial amount of cash. The 24-year-old male driver was arrested on multiple drug-related charges. Great work by our officers and K-9 Rodo! *All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

If you see something, say something! Just after a.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026, a resident in the Westlake neighborhood of Broomfield called 911 after spotting a man in a black hoodie checking vehicle door handles, jumping fences and running through backyards. A Broomfield Police Sergeant responding to the area spotted the suspect running. Additional officers arrived and searched the neighborhood with assistance from a Westminster Police Department drone pilot. The drone eventually located the 25-year-old suspect hiding partially underneath a vehicle in the driveway of a home on W. 132nd Way. Officers also found a large amount of change in his possession. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Broomfield Detention Center for Criminal Trespass. Thank you to the resident who called 911 and to our partners Westminster Police for their assistance. *All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
