With ND Nation continuing to pray for Coach Lou Holtz and his family, it’s a great time to flashback to the 2009 Japan Bowl (at the Tokyo Dome) where Coach Lou Holtz came back to coach his former players in one last game. Lou Holtz led 57 of his former players to a 19-3 victory over the Japanese National Team. MVP of the game went to former RB Jay Vickers. Included in this video is two locker room speeches by Coach Holtz

It was always destiny that Lou Holtz be the head football coach at Notre Dame. As he tells it, even when he excepted the job at Minnesota it was on the promise that if Minnesota excepted a bowl bid and Notre Dame came calling he was free to go but only to Notre Dame. No one expected him to turn around Minnesota as fast as he did. Minnesota excepted a bowl bid after just his second season and a week later Notre Dame came calling, but it didn’t come without stipulations as Fr Joyce told him “we don’t take transfers here. We don’t redshirt athletes. We don’t have an athletic dorm. We don’t have an athletic table. We’re gonna play the most difficult schedule we can find and we expect to win. The other thing we don’t change and it’s nonnegotiable is we have a policy that the head coach can’t make more than the President at Notre Dame.” Lou Holtz responded with “that doesn’t bother me.” He excepted the position and the rest is history! ☘️

Happy Birthday to “The Ghost” Dave Casper! One of the greatest to ever play not only at Notre Dame but at the College Football level! He is a National Champion (‘73) and has been inducted into both the College Football Hall of Fame (2012) and the Pro Football Hall of Fame (2002)

Jeremiyah Love appreciation post as his career is all but guaranteed to be done in a Notre Dame uniform. It’s been an absolute pleasure/honor to have watched this young man’s career at Notre Dame. He will go down in history as one of the greatest to ever do it for the Irish! ☘️💚
