The first 'SafeZebra' automated pedstrian crossing safety device has been fitted in Southend on Sea this week. Patented and IP protected technology, it is designed to significantly improve pedestrian safety at crossings. Automatically activated when a pedestrian goes to step on the crossing, the amber LED strip lights start to flash to warn motorists, whilst the LED flood lights add signinfcant addtional lighting. The device automatically reverts to a passive state after a set time. The automation means the pedestrian does not have to do anything, whilst being extremly energy efficient, as it negates the need for addtional perminant lighting. It will save lives whilst saving energy.
