One of life's quiet privileges is to witness a young person grow into the fullness of who they are meant to be. I have watched Aedan Asika Aedan Asika grow from a little boy into a fine young man. That is why, today, it is so special to see him begin a new chapter as a husband as he exchanges vows with his beautiful bride, Maya Arogundade. Congratulations Aedan and Maya. May God bless your union with love and a lifetime of shared joy.

I always enjoy conversations with young people who are curious enough to ask difficult questions and thoughtful enough to seek understanding before forming their opinions. Earlier this week, I got talking with a young lady who, as it turned out, had read about the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Global Strategic Advisory Group meeting I attended in Lake Como, Italy. She had been reflecting on some of the issues I raised and asked questions that deserve serious consideration: Why does Africa still export cocoa beans only to import finished chocolate? Can our continent truly move beyond dependence on aid? Interestingly enough, these were the very questions at the heart of our conversation in Italy. My view remains that the realities of the present moment are not a crisis to be managed, but an opportunity to be seized. Africa must redefine its relationship with the world. Not as a passive recipient of assistance, but as a confident and genuine partner. Conversations like these leave me encouraged. They remind me that many young Nigerians are thinking and concerned about Nigeria’s place in the world and are determined to help shape a more prosperous future.

This evening, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu Engineer Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu., our Governorship Candidate in the 2027 election, alongside our candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives, paid me a visit after receiving their Certificates of Return from the PDP National Headquarters and their INEC nomination documents. I congratulated them on this important milestone and reminded them that leadership begins long before elections are won. It begins with a deep sense of responsibility to the people whose trust they seek. The documents they carry are more than certificates of candidacy. They represent the hopes, and expectations of countless Kwarans who desire a better future for themselves and their children. I urged them to carry this mandate with humility, integrity, and a clear understanding of the weight of public office. May they remain guided by that truth in the months ahead, and may the Almighty grant them victory.

Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria! I just arrived at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja for this year’s June 12 edition of The Platform Nigeria. I will be sharing my thoughts on governance, democracy and national security, the very issues at the heart of what today stands for. #June12

Thank you to His Excellency, Ambassador Paulo Martins Santos, and his team for a memorable evening marking Portugal’s National Day and 25 years of the Embassy in Abuja. A friendship in good hands, and a good reason to celebrate. Parabéns to Portugal and to the Portuguese community here in Nigeria.

We have just wrapped up the inaugural session of the Two-Day Roundtable on Insecurity in Northern Nigeria organized by The Coalition of Northern Groups. At the first session, we embarked on a comprehensive and technical discussion on the multifaceted security challenges that have beleaguered our region, with a view to identifying the appropriate solutions alongside security specialists, policymakers, and political leaders. As we prepare for the second session of the day, delving deep into the root causes and intricate dynamics of this crisis, it is my hope that the actionable and sustainable solutions that will be provided from this roundtable will be implemented to ensure the enduring peace and stability of the north and the entire nation.

I just concluded a meeting in Enugu State with His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, alongside Senators Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo of the Official PDP Nigeria Strategy and Way Forward Committee. We didn’t sidestep the issues. We confronted the fractures in our foundation, asked the hard questions, and began shaping a real, workable plan to move our party forward. I believe in the PDP. I believe in what it has stood for and what it can still become, if we’re willing to do the hard, unglamorous work of rebuilding from the inside out. The road ahead won’t be easy. It will test us and demand more from each of us. But I leave Enugu more convinced than ever: we have the people, the resolve, and the clarity to rise to the occasion—and to lead again. #PowerToThePeople

Papilo, Kanu Nwankwo Kanu Nwankwo, is a living legend of Nigerian football. His playmaking brilliance and his leadership on the field, shaped an entire generation of our national sport. It also helps that he once wore the colours of Arsenal during one of the club’s most iconic eras. So today, as I welcomed Kanu into my office to talk about football, I found myself a fan all over again.
