We're seeing a trend where fighting games are (and always have been) about colorful visuals and the ever popular action which appeals to both casuals and competitors. Last year we had a chill chat with NAH| Majin「O」bama @ #TatakaiTuesday at the Gerald Lee podcast studio, about the 'social media meta' of debates in the FGC. My understanding is that the majority of us want to 'grow' in skill, discipline and well being. Some people just want to yell on the internet.

The era of fighting game players who were talented enough to be at the top of all of the games that they played are becoming rare. We know back in the day, majority of SF4 players played UMVC3 like as if they're all part of a Happy Meal Set, a 'meant to be' but Chris G was in top8 for all 'popular games' at their time. But when was it where he felt like he has achieved something greater than just being 'good'? s/o to Kevin Landon
