Newsom’s California leaves children with serious mental health needs to die in the streets. Jázmin Pelligrini was a 15-year-old girl who was hospitalized 40 times over 2 years. California repeatedly “treated and streeted” her rather than help her access the long-term, secure residential care she needed. She died of a suspected fentanyl overdose on a San Francisco sidewalk.

Christopher Hitchens: “Islamic fundamentalism is not created by American democracy. It’s a lie to say so. It’s a masochistic lie. And it excuses those who are the real criminals, and it blames us for the attacks made upon us.” This is why you have to study history.

Listen to Sam Harris skillfully eviscerate the “both sides” argument in the Israel-Hamas war: “The boundary between antisemitism and generic moral stupidity is a little hard to discern, and I’m not sure it’s always important to find it. I’m not sure it matters why a person can’t distinguish between collateral damage in a neccessary war and conscious acts of genocidal sadism that are celebrated as religious sacrament by a death cult. Our streets have been filled with people literally tripping over themselves in their eagerness to demonstrate that they cannot distinguish between those who intentionally kill babies and those who inadvertently kill them — having taken great pains to avoid killing them — while defending themselves against the very people who have just intentionally tortured and killed innocent men, women, and yes, babies. And who are committed to doing this again at any opportunity, and are using their own innocent non-combatants as human shields. If you’re bothsidesing this situation, or worse, if you’re supporting the wrong side, if you’re waving the flag of people who murder non-combatants intentionally, killing parents in front of their children and children in front of their parents, burning people alive at a music festival devoted to peace, and decapitating others and dragging their dismembered bodies through the streets — all to shouts of ‘God is Great.’ If you’re recognizing the humanity of actual barbarians, while demonizing the people who worry about war crimes, and who drop leaflets and call cell phones for days, in an effort to get non-combatants to leave specific buildings before they are bombed, because those buildings sit on top of tunnels filled with genocidal lunatics, who again have just sedulously tortured and murdered families as though it were a religious sacrament, because for them it is a religious sacrament. If you have landed, proudly and sanctimoniously on the wrong side of this asymmetry, this vast gulf between savagery and civilization, while marching through the quad of an Ivy League university, wearing yoga pants. I’m not sure it matters that your moral confusion is due to the fact that you just happen to hate Jews — whether you’re an antisemite or just an apologist for atrocity is probably immaterial. The crucial point is that you are dangerously confused about the moral norms and political sympathies that make life in this world worth living. What is more, you don’t even care about what you think you care about, because you have failed to see that Hamas and Jihadists generally are the principal cause of all the misery and dysfunction we see, not just in Gaza but throughout the Muslim world.”

Big moment on Dr. Phil when a trans advocate is met with groans of disapproval from the studio audience after saying kids “know who they are” at 3, 4, or 5 years old. Expert Dr. Leor Sapir explains why detransitioners show us that kids, in fact, do not always know who they are.🧵

This video perfectly captures my skepticism of the “survivor” movement against the “troubled teen industry.” In it, a girl says residential treatment saved her — until Paris Hilton’s documentary came out and the false narrative that residential treatment is inherently abusive took hold. After that, she reevaluated her experience and now claims she was “brainwashed” into thinking treatment helped her — when really, it was abusive all along. 🙄

🧵The narrative that transgender people possess a “brain sex” mismatched with their body has permeated our culture. In 2009, on the massively popular show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, psychiatrist George Huang explained that a trans-identified boy had a “female brain”:

This recruitment appeared to work. Andrew Fahlstrom, who led the January 8 training, is a longtime activist with the tenant organizing group Inquilinx Unidx Por Justicia (IX) and treasurer of Sky Without Limits. He said the group had gained 1,000 new signups and stated that the purpose of the meeting was to “grow the number of people on the streets.”

These are the types of women leading the anti-residential treatment campaign—the self-identified “survivors” of the so-called troubled teen industry. Note the hyperbolic language: “kidnapped,” “falsely imprisoned,” “drugged,” “brainwashed,” “emotionally abused.” She even claimed, “I was not mentally ill, but my mother had Munchausen by proxy.” With these activists, it’s always someone else’s fault. They rarely acknowledge the dangerous or criminal behavior that led to their placement in the first place, or the violent outbursts that sometimes necessitated interventions like physical restraint. This particular woman recently testified in support of Utah’s SB 297, a bill aimed at imposing additional regulations on youth residential treatment—an essential lifeline for kids with severe emotional and behavioral challenges.
