We used to do parallel arrivals and departures at SFO. No longer. I used to love flying them. Too many guys screwed it up unfortunately. Expect longer taxi times and gate holds.

As I head to bed, let me leave you with this. Beyond the constant drumbeat of false allegations and ignorance from some of our citizens, marinate on this. This is why most of us do it: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” ~ Isaiah 6:8 They heard the voice of duty, of God and country, and said, “Send me.” They left homes, families, and futures behind to defend liberty on distant battlefields. Some never returned. Their sacrifice was total. Their “Here am I” became eternal. To every Gold Star family, every veteran who carried the weight: Thank you. May we never forget those who said “Send me”… and meant it with their lives.🙏✝️ Goodnight, ya’ll. God Bless America. ❤️🇺🇸🔥

Funny story about Gary Busey. I was driving home from LAX after a Delta trip. The traffic was so bad on the 405 that night I decided to drive up the PCH, look at the ocean, and not get stressed. I pulled up to a stop light in Malibu, still in my Delta pilot uniform, epaulets and all. It was around midnight on a Friday. I looked to my left while at the light, in the vehicle next to me is Gary Busey. He looks over at me and sees me in my uniform and he freaks out! He thinks I’m a cop. 🤣🤣🤣 He immediately looks straight ahead and put his hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2! No more eye contact. I laughed all the way home! 🤣🤣🤣

What happens when we lose an engine after decision speed? We go. We’re committed. We can’t stop on the runway. One of the toughest maneuvers in aviation and one we practice ad nauseum in training. I can do it in my sleep. Which is a good thing. Rest assured your crew can do it too. 🔥

In related news, I’m hearing reports that the Green Zone in Baghdad is being locked down. Trying to confirm. Who will Iraq align with? Most likely Iran.

Watch the Navy Blue Angels choreographing their air show performance. It’s that precise! Absolutely zero wiggle room involved in performing these maneuvers. Crazy.

There’s an In-N-Out burger place right on the approach end of 24R. Best plane-spotting site in the nation. When I was flying for Delta, I’d occasionally stop on my way home for Double Double Animal Style and to watch the jets!
