Justin Thomas credits his wife for helping him get mentally prepared for his 65 on Sunday at the PGA. "I vented and kind of got everything off my chest to my wife Jill last night. Credit to her, she gave great advice. She was like, well, use that tomorrow. She's seen me play pissed off. I've done it in Ryder Cups a lot, and it's like sometimes it brings a little different energy and different side out of it. "So I've got to give her a lot of credit for that because I tried to use that out of my finish and round today to play today and shoot as low as I could."

Cameron Young was asked what it was like to get a thumbs up from President Donald Trump after his victory Sunday at the Cadillac Championship: "It’s very unique. He's nothing if not a very, very interesting man. He's very powerful, and it's an honor to get to play in front of him. Hugely grateful to him and his family and his organization that has these beautiful properties and allows us to come and play great golf tournaments on them. "This is a special place and great championship golf course, I'm thankful to have it back in the schedule."

Scottie Scheffler called Friday's pin locations at the PGA Championship "kind of absurd." "This is the hardest set of pin locations that I've seen since I've been on Tour, and that includes U.S. Opens, that includes Oakmont. I did ask, I asked Fooch, who caddies for Justin Rose. He's been around a long time -- and I asked Teddy too -- have you seen anything like this before? They said maybe Shinnecock is the only place they have seen that has pins that could compare to this."

Justin Thomas has a new putter in the bag this week. Where did he get the idea? Cameron Young. "I literally texted Cameron's guys and said, Just give me Cam's putter. I've been watching him make putts for a pretty good amount of time now, and I've always thought it looks really good, so I was like, I want Cam Young's putter. Coincidentally, I get paired with him this week and we had the exact same shoes on yesterday, and it's like, I promise I'm not trying to copy everything you do. But I'm maybe trying to copy everything you do, I don't know."

Nelly Korda shot 4-under 67 on Friday to move within two shots of the lead, sitting at 2 under heading to the weekend at the U.S. Women’s Open. She credits her sister, Jessica, for helping her sort some things out on the range Thursday. “Actually, a big shout out to my sister because she helped me. I just tried to strengthen my grip a little bit. I just kind of keep laying it off at the top and I've been working on it -- gosh, grinding on it for five weeks, and I can't get it. I don't know what I'm doing in my swing, so I just try to strengthen my grip. It felt super funky today, but I just trusted and went with it.”

Matt Fitzpatrick was asked about his reaction to the crowds down the stretch at the RBC Heritage: "It didn't get out of line in terms of no one was shouting on backswings or anything like that, which was great. I'm all for it. I love the people -- they're supporting Scottie; that's great. You want golf to have an atmosphere in my opinion. I grew up watching football. I'm paid so much money to be out there in front of those crowds, having them chanting at you every week, it's great feeling. "However, there's no better feeling than coming out on top against that. There isn't a better feeling."

Here's the entirety of Garrick Higgo discussing why he didn't agree with the two-shot penalty he received at the PGA Championship. "Again, I wasn't that late. When I got there -- I was supposed to tee off last in any case, and Shaun (Micheel) -- he hadn't announced Shaun yet. Obviously he was dealing with finding me, so he probably would have announced Shaun on time. I asked them if I bothered them for being late, and I said, I apologize for that. But they said it was fine."

Gary Player was asked what advice he would give to Tiger Woods: "Do I blame him for taking medicine? Hell, no. He has sleep deprivation. Do I blame him for taking something to help him sleep? No. But I don't think he should drive a car. When you're taking that medicine, it's dangerous when you're driving a car, same as it's dangerous when you look at your cell phone in the car. There's 6,000 accidents a day in motor cars. "So I think all he's got to do is just not drive a car and get a chauffeur. My reflexes, I think, are as good as when I was 20, but I don't drive anymore. I get a chauffeur. I think that's the answer to it."

Brooks Koepka has sat and waited to get into the last two signature events as an alternate only to head home Thursday after not getting into the events. It's not the first time in his career it happened, but he also is understanding of the position he is in. Koepka is playing in Myrtle Beach this week. "The way I look at it is I'm itching to get in, but I'm accepting of where I'm at, and I understand that there's prices to pay for coming back, and I'm willing to accept those and whatever I have to do. "I knew this year was going to be challenging to even get in them. I kind of thought maybe by around U.S. Open, but to know that I'm kind of knocking on the door already is a good thing. Just the answer to everything is play better, and you're in."

Rory McIlroy spoke with media on Wednesday for the first time since winning the Masters. He told a funny story about Poppy at Augusta National. "I think for Poppy it sort of seems normal for her now to just go into Butler Cabin at the end of the day and have a grilled cheese and talk with the chairman." "We were flying back on the Monday afterwards and she always has a tennis lesson on Monday afternoon, and I thought OK, maybe today we can bin the tennis lesson. And she's like, 'No, I want to play tennis.' And I'm like, 'Sure, let's go, let's do it.' So as soon as we get home she's the one that rules the roost."

Chris Gotterup was asked whether the setup at Aronimink was "unfair." Gave a great answer. "So is it unfair, probably not. But is it going to make the round slow, yeah. "I don't think it's unfair by any stretch of the imagination, but you're not going to get any 4-1/2 hour rounds out here if that's what they, if that's what's going to happen. So, unfair, no, but, you know, tough to make birdies."

Justin Thomas was asked about his group getting put on the clock: "We just didn't really agree with it. ... The hard part to me with the whole pace of play thing is that you, there's so much that goes into golf and there's so much that goes into hole to hole in terms of, are you hitting it close, are you able to tap it in, or you have to mark it, stuff like that, to where, are you holding the group up or are you not, to where it's very hard to make that call. And we just didn't agree with it, to be honest. "But we got taken off, and a hole later we were caught up. So it kind of goes to our point of why we didn't think we should of, but it is what it is. It's a part of it."

Blades Brown bet on himself, turning down college golf to go straight to professional golf. On Sunday, he earned special temporary membership on the PGA Tour. Does he feel vindicated after his choice? "Absolutely. I know my route to the PGA Tour is a very uncommon route. It's mainly because of my parents. They've been my biggest supporters. They've sacrificed so much, especially my dad. He's been -- I think he's missed about two events in my entire life, and he believed in me whenever I didn't believe in myself. "It's been pretty cool, and I'm really happy with the decision I made to turn pro."

Cameron Young says he started playing the golf ball that will be compliant with new standards back at the Wyndham Championship last year, his first win. He says he originally tested the ball two years ago and made the decision to play it because it's the ball he thought he could get the most out of. "I don't think any of us are out really here playing the ball that goes the farthest. I think you'd struggle to find a single person that's doing that. We're all sacrificing a certain amount of things that we feel are worth it, control with irons, control with wedges. For me, that's the biggest thing is being able to control spin, and this is the ball that does the best for me."

Jon Rahm was asked if he can get out of his LIV contract early or if he has to wait until it expires. "I have no idea. I couldn't tell you. I have very few talents in my life, and reading a contract or business are not two of them. "As of right now, I have several years on my contract left, and I'm pretty sure they did a pretty good job when they drafted that. "I don't see many ways out, and as of right now, I'm not really thinking about it since we still have a season to play and majors to compete for. So it's not something I want to think about just yet."

Jordan Spieth and Sungjae Im shot a best-ball 57 on Friday. Spieth carded a 9-under 62 and is one behind Im and Kinsei Hirata. "I was hurting my head trying to figure out what our best ball was. "it was really fun. Sungjae got off to another really good start like he did yesterday. I was just kind of hanging behind those guys until we made the turn. I love playing golf with Sungjae, and I was hoping that we'd -- as we got to 7, I was like, all right, now I hope we don't play together because I'm up two or three on him, whatever, two on him. But you're feeding off each other, right? There's a lot of good golf going on. Chris ended up closing out really well too. "He hit one of the most beautiful -- that was one of the prettiest hole-in-ones I've ever seen. Prettier than any one I ever made. It's 222, and the wind is off the left to the left pin. There's only a few people that would land that left of it on purpose. He might be one of them."

Jordan Spieth was asked about the ongoing situation with LIV and how the PGA Tour should treat players who want to return. "I'm not sure. I'm not sure if it should be the same for everyone. I know olive branches were given out, you know, a couple months ago. Brooks took 'em up on it. So I'm not sure what would now change. Obviously with, if it -- and I don't even know, that doesn't necessarily mean that LIV's not going to still move on, too. "I think there's just too many unknowns for me to have a good gauge on what would happen there. But I think, if there's a system for Brooks and a system for Patrick Reed, does that stay the same for guys in the same category as those two coming back or does it change now. Does it change for guys who sued and dropped their membership. "There's just a lot of different things that happened over the last four years for that. I'm kind of glad I'm not in that room, and I trust the guys that are in that room to make the right decision."

Scottie Scheffler has had to learn to bargain with son Bennett recently. "Last night we were leaving a Nike party and he somehow ended up with two sugar cookies and he hadn't eaten his dinner yet. I was like, 'all right, buddy, if you eat these sausages, I will give you this cookie.' He's like, 'cookie.'

Tom Watson was asked what change he would make to Augusta National. "I'd fill in the creek in front of No. 12." Laughter ensued. Then Gary Player added: "That's an 8-iron, and it's crippled more people than polio. "You can't knock it in from the water unless you've got a helluva underwater stroke."

Nelly Korda talked about a mindset shift she had coming into the U.S. Women's Open and handling adversity and the ups and downs of professional golf. She revealed a little trick she started doing this year to have a better mindset on the course. Korda even joked about her fiance telling her to be more positive. "I started at the beginning of the year writing positive notes to myself in my bathroom. And I've seen a bunch of athletes do that. So other athletes inspire me, too. I started doing that and it's a great reminder and I do it occasionally here and there. I travel with post-it notes and I stick 'em on to the mirror when I get ready and I write myself a positive note and that's my thought for the week."
