Melbourne training notes: The biggest selection watch was Tom McDonald, who spent the entire short session training as a forward. Aidan Johnson went the other way and played in defence throughout match simulation. The message with ball movement was impossible to miss. Steven King repeatedly stopped the midfield drill whenever players went boundary-side. They had to use the corridor. Later drills started wide before immediately looking back inside on the 45, with constant calls to “look inside”. Viney, Melksham, Lindsay, Heath and most of Sunday’s Casey side were managed early. Henderson ran laps away from the main group, while Windsor finished early for a second straight week. Jai Culley was walking freely without a brace or crutches and even spent time lightly kicking the footy. Tom Sparrow was thrilled with his new deal and grateful for the long-term security after four consecutive two-year contracts. The players aren’t interested in settling for fifth. Asked about potentially facing Collingwood in a final, Sparrow smiled: “We want it all.” #DemonSpirit The DeeBrief
